Where is the best place to buy a couple cans of frame paint for my 88 CR250? I think it is 134 fighting red.

Colorrite is usually a perfect match. Id look to buy their paint but its cheaper elsewhere than their site.

Thanks Bman. Is the 134 fighting red the correct color?

I can't find it anywhere but their site and it looks like it will be about $100 for 2 cans of color and 1 can of clear shipped. For $50 more I can get it sand blasted and powder coated. Not sure which way to go.

Yeah, the paint is a lot. You would need 4+ rattle cans to do a frame right. If you have a good paint gun and can spray it yourself that is good too, but Im all for powder coating. You might have to order the right powder, but IMO it's totally worth it.

Any good paint shop will be able to match

If you intend to ride the bike a lot the paint will be easier to top up

I do intend to ride it a lot, so I am leaning towards paint. The original paint is actually not in bad shape except the bottom and where boots rub. My thought was to clean it up and sand it (but not down to the metal) and give a few coats of matching paint. That way and chips or scratches will only show the old paint, instead of metal or primer, and can be easily touched up.

I did find a Duplicolor torch red, that seems to be pretty close and is only $10 a can.

Bought a couple cans of this from ebay. I am starting with just 2 cans since I will not be stripping the old paint down to metal. Seems like it should work OK.

I bought from the same guy, only Flash Red paint for my 87 triangle stand. The right primer will help get the exact color you're after. I needed a white primer to get the right brightness. Test it to get the right combo before you go right to the frame.

So red over red might make it too dark?

With the darker red you're using, I dont know. I would test it out and make sure it's a match before you do part of your frame. I know for my Flash Red it looked a lot brighter with a white primer.
