It is no longer a matter of what is beat for the sport it is all about money. Youth Stream says that the GP's need participation from the US in order to grow the sport yet they decise to move the MXoN from the US???? If I was to think about this decision as a whole, it would seem to me that the owner of GH wanted out of the MXoN or a reduced cost for hosting it. May be the owner of GH will come forward and tell us what realley happened.

I am sure they did, but after being there once I am not willing to take the chance at same venue . Somewhere new is needed...

Somewhere new is needed, it adds to the excitement like the first time you go on holiday to a new place. The idea of Glen Helen was more exciting to me and it seems like I'm not the only one.
Like I said I'm out for Matterly but was in for Glen Helen!
Ah, I get it.
For a moment it looked like your deciding factors to go to a MXdN or not are the toilet and parking facilities.

Well, toilets and the time it takes to get to another toilet do play a bigger part of decision making as I get older!!! Blush Sad

It has improved, I think they get the cleaning crews in on sunday morning now to drag them back up from the bottom of the hills after they have been raced downhill on the saturday night.......

As you say I was a bit disappointed that its at Matterley, I was hoping to make the trip across to GH, I bet the MXGP of GB will be a bit quieter this year.

I was at Fox hill a couple of weekends ago and was earwigging a group of spectators who said they were blowing out Italy this year now Glen Helen had been confirmed!

As for GP at Matterly next year, I don't think there can be aswell as the MXDN?

Definitely not - I routinely pay $500-600 return from NY to London when booked in advance.

I do think they have missed a trick not running it at GH, I think attendance wouldn't have been an issue, but then I'm not the one putting the big $$$ up front.

So where would they hold the British mxgp instead? Foxhills would be awesome Smile

Matterley is like Wembley Stadium. It looks empty with 20,000 people in it. Matterley is one of the few venues in the world that seems tailor made for this event. Now the promoter has 8 events worth of experience under it's belt it should be a cracker.

Glen Helen wouldn't have made a good MXoN venue in my view. Track looks great on TV but the reality is it's a bit of a dust bowl, uncomfortably hot and has all the atmosphere of a dentist's waiting room. At least it did when I saw a national there one time.

In my opinion the whole MXGP and other related events is a clown show. I understand they are in the business to make money and that's their main priority.. but who isn't waking up everyday to make money? Look at Davey Combs I'm sure he isn't putting in all the work he does just because he wants there to be motocross races, he's making money doing it. I'm sure if Davey said they would have an event somewhere, hold a press conference and everything than you bet your ass there's going to be an event there. But I guess to Giuseppe it's about how much more money he will make having it somewhere else.

All you GP supporters can say what you want, and I'm not saying Giuseppe is all bad, but the minute that scumbag gets out of this sport I think it will make a change for the better. To me in business, keeping your word is one of the biggest things you can do, and Giuseppe doesn't seem to know the meaning.

Really? If that's the case I would be booking my flight now. I'm going to check into it more tomorrow. I can justify $5-600. I did a quick search last night and flights were roughly $1700 out of Pittsburgh.

If you can get to New York ( JFK airport) cheaply , the flights from there to Gatwick London are more regular and cheaper. I have flown out of there with virgin Atlantic and the upgrades on the day were quite reasonable as the plane was half empty. But shop around with dates a. little bit if you can ( flights might not be on sale yet until next month) they can vary quite a bit.

Sorry I meant London Heathrow airport from JFk (it's approx 1hour drive if the conditions are ok)
