Is it the scrub that is allowing him to pass riders, or is it line selection and/or better drive out of the corner? I think JS's corner speed is what allowed him to JUMP past riders. Not so much the scrub. In order to pass someone you have to be going faster than them, scrub or no scrub.

I still maintain, the scrub is superficial...and there are very few times it is actually necessary or even effective (there were a few times in the nationals that I think it is used effectively).

When bubba was on a 125...that was unneccessary in ineffective.


having said all that...it sure is fun to watch.

not trying to start a war here but at the same time when your going faster you jump farther thus requiring you to stay lower to the ground so that you do not over jump. for example on my track there is a big jump out of a corner i can mid throttle and jump clean on my 450 or hammer the piss out of it and scrub i can deffiantly feal the difference in speed

bubba excuse # 431...He can't scrub on the Yamaha.

scrub is just another technique. Sometimes it's useful, sometimes it's not practical.

And it's only useful in the hands of someone that knows how to do it (and not very many people do).

I laugh at all the B, C, D class riders at our local tracks, that "scrub" every bump on the track...all they are doing is wasting energy, with no benefit in speed (though I bet they'd tell you they "feel" like they go faster when they do it). I think some pros just waste energy when they "scrub" all the bumps too. It's a fad, that is going to go the way of the dinosaur.

I'm not mechanic...but what in the world would cause a front brake to work perfectly fine, go out for two laps, and then come back again?

Something just isn't right...

some how getting air in the brake line could cause that... and pumping it several times would make it work again.

I remember him scrubbing out of the downhill back section at broome in '05.....would slam the bars to the stops so hard at the lip it sounded like someone hitting a solid chunk of steel with a hammer.

He's learnt he cant scrub the yammy like Chad used to because the carby drains of gas...and bogs. Hope he gets it sorted before he hurts a knee again. *Only the elite riders of sx can effectivly scrub a 450*
