Can't remember the last nascar race I watched (and I'm a fan of stock car racing) I scrolled past it and started watching.....WOW the stands aren't even half full!
If moto and any other sport wants to survive, they better get creative and figure out what people want!

DeCal Works Huge Plastic Inventory of UFO and Polisport kits.
we have a trip to Italy planned next year and the shit thats going on near there has my Wife thinking we should cancel. Told her then ISIS wins
Attendance has been declining for years. Tracks that recently added seats have taken them out or sometimes cover them with huge advertisements.
California Speedway started with sell outs, then sell outs twice a year to added seats and more sell outs.
Down to one race a year and no longer a sell out.
I stopped going because they crammed too many people in one row, very uncomfortable for all when there is a sellout. It would be nice if they took a couple seats from each row if they ever feel the need to reduce capacity.
I have a meeting in Singapore next month. I'm not really worried about that but I will be staying at the Merriot in Singapore and that has me concerned. JW Merriot is the same hotel chain that has gotten bombed twice in Jakarta. I'm not exactly comfortable about the stay. I am going to ask for a room on a very upper level floor.
"Boring Nascar Races" I don't have a problem what people think of Nascar and when I hear/read something like this I know the person saying it doesn't give a shit about the sport to learn more about Chassis, builds and combinations to make a car better than the next. I get it "whats so hard about turning left?"
Go to a track were they let you drive the car, learn more about what your driving then I would take your opinion 100% more serious than I do now.
" the average Nascar fan probably thinks along those same lines"
It used to be a Redneck sport Mash the gas and go! things have certainly changed with time. But Ya, your probably right. If i'm thinking that terrorist could be at any event then i'm more aware not Dumb as your trying to put it.
A few things cause that,
Tickets got to $110 each.
If you got a room near the track in kingsport,Johnson city or Bristol it cost you $300 a nite easy.
Even driving 2 hrs from Knoxville would be $175 to 200 a nite.
Parking on speedway grounds fills up,the yards nearby charge $40 to 80 to park and this goes out a mile easy in ever direction.
Shuttles bring you in but dont run after but just a few paces and the lines are long.
They rode a fad and ran it in the ground. The core fans are still there and about 40k is it.
Hell, they took out 30 to 50 thousand seats at several tracks.
Even the teams got together to try and negotiate hotel rooms because they couldn't afford it.
Pit Row
Sunday it had to less than 30k,they dont release attendance anymore.
NASCAR needs a new sponsor ,they are asking 1 billion over 10 yrs, 100 million a yr, and has to be 10 yr deal.
Sprint has been paying 50 to 75 million a year they figure.
Nascar says they have several companies in the running, i doubt that.
The best racing I've seen there since concrete is the modified. ,oh ,and the goodys dash cars were excellent.
