Hi, started riding a local MX track recently. It is a tight technical track with allot of jumps, mixture of table tops, small doubles and the one I am having trouble on which is a jump that clears a gap and lands on a table top (not sure if it has a special name). It was one that I was rolling over until the weekend where I decided to just start hitting it. Compared to the other jumps it is fairly steep on the take off ramp, had me scared at first. First time I hit it, I actually went OK, landed a little short but rode away fine. However the next 2 times to avoid coming up short I gave it a little more gas. But both times, especially the last one I landed very nose high, Landed pretty much in a high wheelie position. Scared the crap out of me, thought I was coming off the back of the bike for sure.
Question is, what is the most likely reason for this ??
Held the gas on too long ?
Poor body positioning ?
Other factors ?
It certainly felt like I was too tense in the air and not letting the bike fly its natural path that's for sure

I would suggest attempting this style of jumps prior to doing the big one just to get the feel down.
