Absolutely horrible call. If anything the goal should have been allowed or a penalty kick issued. Since when can you bear hug an opponent and get away with it. FIFA needs to looks into this.


Typical how the refs always seem to miss a call on the USA, costing us a goal. The refs 1st World Cup game, and he screwed it up already. No clue where he's from, but he needs to not ref any more USA games.

Yeah, even as a neutral, I think USA should have had that goal!

All I know is Donovan damn near took that goalies head off with that 2nd goal. Power blast!

they just have the history over there. like 100 years of rivalries and the old songs and chants they sing. we just dont have that. not to take anything away from October baseball or the college football championships. but the energy is intense. my wife and i are already saving for WC2014 in Brazil. the second largest country for soccer. i cant wait!

MLS has more spectators than NBA and NHL per game on average. I suppose MLS is a pretty good show too!?

i havent been to one yet and rarely catch one on tv so i dont know. id like to go but from what ive seen so far there just doesnt seem to be the same energy at an MLS game as Euro game. they just dont have the history and traditions. the Euros are so crazy about their game, for instance, a couple years ago, some guy killed himself because his team lost. now thats fanatical and insane, but just an idea of how that culture embraces this sport. i personally dont think MLS will ever be as big as Euro soccer because it wasnt designed and setup in the US like baseball and football. i think people get into the WC because its similar to the olympics and more of a patriotic backing than a fan of the sport backing.

A soccer trip I would like to recommend to you soccer enthusiasts, that I did last year is: Go to see El Classico in Barcelona. FC Barcelona vs Real Madrid. Great stadium, great atmosphere and most of the greatest players in the world in the same game at the same time, hence usually great game. Bonus is that Barcelona is a great city to be in, I lived off of tapas for four days, I love those little things.
