Sorry to have touched on the subject of the host nations representation at the 2010 USGP..The AMA riders the AMA chose to participate should be proud of the results, again I apologize and hope to see this level of participation next year, the world is watching. Kudos and I hope the administrators don`t feel the need to censor adverse opinions to protect the forum participants.

no, I'm saying that's where he was at at Hangtown. I don't think he got up to full speed one week later.

I like Ben. Hope he gets 100% and would be perfectly happy to see him win the title.

I'm just dishing with Team Euro. He's a self-admitted douchbag (sp), so I guess it's just boredom.

You're theory is fine but he also worked his way up to second in that second moto before crashing. The only guy ahead of him was Alessi who he was clearly faster then at Glen Helen.

In the same vein, I don't think Alessi lost all his speed in one week. I've seen Mike ride in the heat and he usually doesn't slow down. He did not look like the same guy we've seen in the Nationals the last couple of years. Or maybe he gets tight if there is pressure (i.e., not leading with a big gap), don't know.

It's early and there's a lot to sort out in the AMA series. Not sure anybody has a lot of AC in the GP's.

I've never seen a rider as dependent on a holeshot as Mike Alessi. Lucky for him, he gets them a lot but maybe not as much with the 350

no doubt. It's amazing the kind of gap he can open up with a holeshot...but, put him in the pack...even a 5th place start and things can get difficult quick.

For the record, I want both series to flourish. I think that due to logistics, the talent pools are similar in general. Some exceptionally fast guys. I loved watching Everts ride...kind of like watching KW. I think the US just happened to have had RC and now JS that are a level above anybody else except for maybe Everts. All 3 of which are Hall of Fame best ever type riders. RV may be in that class. Beating Ben was a pretty big feather in his cap of being one of the best ever guys.

The same motivation that Grant had, They are FIM World Champions and in thier element, There was no way to keep them away, they stepped up, same with Ryno, what guts and motivation. Jimmy was damaged and wanted to ride anyway, he had guts and and was a class act trying, not bad for a mid-pack lower quality, couldn`t get a ride in the AMA rider that this forum makes himout to be..He a GP rider now!
Thank you so much for your information on Jimmy. I don't know anything about him.

(insert extreme sarcasm).

My post was in reference to someone saying that the ambulance never left Glen Helen. Maybe it didn't, but that track can truly be dangerous, IMO, and it's not worth it.

the real question is why didn't any of the GP riders drop by Hangtown to prove that the AMA series doesn't deserve all the attention and money?

Seems to me that GL should have sent AC and company over there to clean house. Imagine, 3 GP riders sweep the podium at an AMA national and then walk away? That would have been a real statement.

Didn't happen did it? No GP riders wanted to step up to the challenge of racing the fastest motocrossers in the world? Wonder why?

As it stands, a couple of AMA riders took a weekend off...felt that racing against the best Europe has was the equivalent of a good practice session. Funny...a mid top 10 AMA guy was the fastest guy on the track that day.

Mrs. C,

If someone doesn't respect your son for his accomplishments on the track, and even more so his behavior off of it, then their respect wouldn't be worth one extra race anyway. And I know you don't speak for every rider that didn't show up but the same thing goes for them, especially the Geico PS/FC team.

And I am sure that one guy doesn't speak for all European, much less all foreign fans, who recognize the talent in both series and give each their due respect.

Ah, well, I really appreciate that. Bottom line, I really believe both series to be pretty much equal. There is obviously a lot of hard work and determination from any guy that's out there, in any series. The back and forth bashing is getting really old. I know the reason most AMA racers weren't there, and people can take it or leave it. Whatever.
