Do you have any issues with low end throttle response? How about funky pit manners on the way down to the line with the throttle being a little erratic or "catchy?"

Thanks in advance for the feedback.

Hey I thought I was the only nut working this late! Hey Tony! I am hoping to ship your pipe today. Do you think you can dyno it and return in two weeks? I will send the packing samples with it.

My mind races and I can't sleep sometimes.

Yea, send it my way. We'll through it on and tune it in proper with the dyno to see what its got.

I have a 09 in the shop right now thats over 10hp than it was stock with the stock pipe still on it and running pump gas.

We'll also try it on a stock one too.

My bike did just what you described. I'm told a remap will fix but I just idled mine up (mostly to solve the stalling problems) and added a Yosh pipe. Now it's smooth. My idle is pretty high and I've been toying with stepping it down a little at a time.

The issue that I Think that has been mostly over looked is the fact that the 50mm only flows as much as a modded 42mm carb. That should tell you that the velocity #s are allot lower going into the port. That creates lower port pressure at low RPMs. The overall effects are lack of torque and throttle response down low.

What if you put the throttle body from a KXF or RMZ on the CRF ? I asked the TT jetting
guy, and he said all that would do was make it slow.

Yea, Eddie is right. The throttle bodies in general don't flow like carbs. The throttle bodies off the kawis are smaller. The flow #s just aren't there. The best scenario is to mod the Honda one or a aftermarket one all together. Though we have the fix for the current ones, I'm wondering when someone will come out with a whole new design. I have one in the works, but not in a big hurry since the insert fixes the velocities and doesn't effect the flow #s. Problem solved

Someone I know did this and it was a major deal due to some wiring harness issues. It ran better but how much i don't know.

I just got pack from UPS and shipped off the test FMF pipe plus two flavors of Bristol Core muffler packing (two 500 gram bags) for you to use compliments of Rock's Racing Services.

I will keep you posted on our fix for the CRF450 throttle body.....

Hey Rock, I spent a day on the 09 CRF and came away with the exact same impression, catchy, snatchy.... Its like the old days when we put big heavy cams in our cars and made them miserable at idle with zero vacuum...LMAO, the 70's have come back as 2009 EFI MX bikes!!!

Raising the idle and remapping seems to help but in reality you just have to live with it in the pits cuz you dont really notice it on the track.

Great feedback and thanks for this.

The modification we are testing improves the pit manners plus (most importantly) makes a difference on the track.

I have one also. If the idle is set low, the bike JUMPS at the crack of the throttle, or stalls depending on the load. I was killing it in corners all the time, but now run the idle really fast and it helps a lot.

We tested our throttle body modification Saturday at REM. Our test rider Den McAdam was going to ride in the pits then bring the bike back for remapping. He went over to the larger lower pit with virtually no one in it (it was close to 100 degrees) made a few slow corners then dialed it on several times.

He came back to our pits but proceeded directly on to the track and put in some hot laps. Den came back in and said "this exceeded my expectations!" and was very impressed. Bike is SMOOTH off the bottom, no stalling, and we have the idle turned down low. BTW, I rode a friend of mine's bike after he rode Den's bike and he said "oh my bike is smooth too!" After I rode his bike I noticed the idle was extremely high. When I asked him what was up he said "oh I have it like this so it doesn't stall." Cracked me up!

We have a one day turn around and already have a race team rider sending us his practice bike throttle body.
