Riders' Heart Rates

After hearing Emig mention heart rates a few times on the Lites broadcast, I would be curious to see riders' heart rates throughout the race. During the Tour De France, they show cyclists' heart rates and it clearly shows when somebody is out of gas and can't push harder.

It would end a lot of speculation about who is out of shape, injured, not trying, etc. as well as show that motocrossers are world class athletes.

Emig always talks about heart rate. I guess it's his way of saying the person would be scared/excited/relieved after a near-crash, fall, mistake, or pass.

It would be cool for each rider to have a heart rate monitor transponder for the TV coverage.

How would seeing a riders heart rate demonstrate anything about them being a world class athlete?

The only time i have ever heard of a riders actual heart rate was back in 05. They said Reed's peaks at 185 and stays there... That's the best help i can provide.

A heart that is extremely fit will actually have a lower HRmax than the same heart in a sedentary condition.....i.e. training very slightly decreases HRmax.

Reeds max could be 185. JS's 175. RV's 195. Won't mean shit as far as who's in better shape, or as far as who's the better athlete. A hundred other variables are at play....

Exactly the better shape you are in the lower your heart rate, other variables are strength and riding style. Experienced riders learn to conserve energy during a race.
