Seems to me that so many people these days are so quick to blame the bikes for there poor performance. I know this little kid that races 60,s and 80,s . He got a new ktm 60 a few weeks back , when he was asked how he thought he was going to do that day . He said he wasn't going to do well because he was on a stock bike. His dad has put it in his head that its all about the motor. The fact that he doesn't ride at all during the week doesn't seem to have anything to do with it. One of my buddies little boy finishes at the back of the pack all the time but constantly complains about his bikes .My buddy takes very good care of the bikes but yet his boy calls them pieces of junk. It makes you have to bite your tongue when you are around people like that.

Haha, yea local motocross races can be quite entertaining sometimes. My favorites are the dads who sit on the sidelines and yell at their kids to "go faster" or give them the classic twist-the-throttle hand gesture, like the kid doesn't already know what to do (sometimes they do this with a beer in the other hand). On the other end of the spectrum you've got the angry/border line crazy alcoholic dad who actually runs out on the track (I'm talking 80's not 50 track stuff) and starts screaming at the kid, tosses him around like a rag doll, and then wheels the bike back to the truck, loads up and takes off. Pretty ridiculous. On the other hand though, I have to admit that most of the families involved on any given weekend are some pretty stand-up people. These are the kind of people that make me proud to be a part of racing motocross.

Yeah the MX dads are a trip for sure. But the thing that makes me want to say what the hell! ,is all the excuses. I guess the bike is as good as any because it cant talk back <img class= " title="Laughing"> .

Any [i:28jpp4lw]parent[/i:28jpp4lw] who tries to convince "little johnny" that it's the bike that's the problem... IS the problem. And giving meaningless advice like "go faster" and the old twist the throttle hand gesture are just plain stupid. This is usually the dad who has never ridden a dirt bike either. It boggles the mind. Get the kid to a motocross school or get him a mentor who knows how to ride. But more importantly knows how to loose! (with a little grace!) It's a hard lesson to learn. But I would wager that kids that race motocross are better prepared to deal with life later on than those who don't. Team sports do teach sportsmanship and cooperation and all that, but individual sports, especially ones that take the level of dedication that motocross does, teach much deeper lessons of sacrifice, endurance, self reliance, pride and more. Can't think of many motocrossers from the early 80's (my generation) that were not successful in life, generally speaking. Thinking of getting your kid into motocross? DO IT! A broken collar bone will heal. Missing out on life's important lessons will be much costlier in the long run.

What exactly does the bike being able to talk have to do with any of this? Please forgive me, I'm a little slow..

The bike would say "hey my little piston is going up and down, up and down, now quit complaining, brake later and get back on the gas earlier... and tell dad to STFU and lay off the budwieser's!"

If the bike could talk it could say , my rider hasn't been riding me during the week or hasn't been training ,his arms are pumping up or what ever the case might be . .. But for the rider all he does is blame poor performance on the bike. I'm not really just talking about mini riders. I guess its just put in there head at that point.

Well its obvious the problem is that the stupid little kid is riding a ktm 60 when everybody else is riding 65's. Mini bike parents are almost as bad as noobs.

Haha, yea I sorta went a completely different direction than what you were talking about but i totally agree. Those kids that you talk about (the ones that complain about having a stock bike) they grow up and turn into the A and B riders who complain about their stock bike OR their mod bikes arefast enough either! haha, I love my stock bike, i replace the top end once and get a new one (that way I don't pour a bunch of money into a bike that I won't get squat back for when I sell it).

It may be a 65 ? Ive been around awhile (they are all 60,s to me :D ) . It was a new bike ,same thing all the other kids were riding. except his was fresh and tight. He would pull the riders on this long sandy straight but yet when the results weren't there the bike is always the reason. This parent is all about motor , if his kid gets beat of course its because little Billy has a faster bike. Funny this parent never talks about suspension :D

The most pissed off I ever saw my dad when my little brother became one of those little moto-brats. My bro had been doing really well on his 1986 yz 80 at the local track so my dad bought him a brand new 1991 rm80. He fried the clutch at his second race and threw the bike down on the track and stomped off, when he got to the pits he started yelling at my dad in front of everyone, "I hate you, why the hell did you buy me a new bike?" To my dads credit he didn't say a word and just loaded it up and drove home, then opened up on him, that was the end of my brothers racing career, at least until he was old enough to take himself.
