I am sorry to hear that. What a nice person. I bought my first works bike from him in 1978. It was Bob Hannah's first works Yamaha a 1974 ex Pierre Karsmakers OW12 250 with the Profab frame. His nickname for it was Gertrude.
Hey Dwight, had video been invented yet?
I hadn't seen Marty Miller in ages, and ran into him when I went out to Riverside to do a story on DMC. He was one of the original Miller Mano riders...it was a trip to see him again.[/quote:a8334]
I think Dennis Wooldridge might have some old reel to reel footage from the ole days. I'll find out.
He also used to have the projector to run the reels.
If so its beer and chips at Dennis' house in Riverside
Naw....What I remember was "Dance to the Music by Sly and the Family Stone" I hated that music back then and now I kind of like it because it reminds me of Corona Raceway. I asked one of the Lapari's why they played that music and he said that was the only 8 track tape they had. So I donated some KISS and Led Zep. Those tapes were stolen the next week and they were back to Sly again.[/quote]

Sorry guys.......for being a petty thief.
During a field trip out there to work on the track, I do remember thinking that Bad Motor Scooter (with the guitar running through the gears) was pretty damn cool.

The band that did that was Montrose.

Can you tell me everything you know about that bike?

Well that was a long time ago. About all I can tell you is that it was very light because it has a lot of titanium and magnesium parts, and it was fast as hell. That bike is the one I holeshot Marty Miller on. Other then that I don't remember.

Thanks, Ron told me he got it from Terry Tierman who was the president of Yamaha at the time. I think they were nieghbors. He said they used to take it to Deumont dunes, it had a paddle tire on it when I first saw it in his backyard. I have talked to Bob Hannah about it as well. He was surprised to hear that it was still around.
Talk about getting high in the hills....Do you remember halling ass in the dark hills during your race and getting a big wiff just blowing by that section?
GuyB.....they were playing slow ride from foghat when you were on that TM 100

I was on Magoo Chandlers 83 Support Honda . I got his support bike from Greg Arnett ( Arnett Sunglasses.....name drop! ) After Magoo went full factory after a podium finish at Anaheim. That bike would holeshot everytime.
Then I got the 84 Team Tamm cr250 from you. Member dat? That bike was quick too. Got that bike for some sweet rims for your RX! Ha!
I remeber taking that out to Glamis with Crandal. You had a cr125...your bro had the cr500 and we would fly over the dunes.
You were in the truck when Crandal almost killed us? We were in the flatbed coming back from Competition hill to our camp at Mammoth wash. Hauling booty down the rode we were just sitting on the flatbed with the cr500 strapped between me and your older Bro. Back end of the Honda was jumping all over the place and landing on our legs. Must have been doing 70 down that dirt road.

So...you're the guy that has bought just about every bike that the Wilkinson's were done hammering on.
Crandall was ripping down the dirt road in Glamis because he didn't want some sand rail to get in front of him and dust us out. I was in the front telling him to slow his ass down before he kills you and my bro Dean.
Good times.

That's right.....You didn't convince him to slow down foo... I left a turd on the flatbed! I think the turd was still on there when he sold the truck.
Speeking of turds...was it you or Mazzacane that found one of my un-buried logs near our camp?

Yah...I buy all of the Wilkinson's bikes after a year of use and a few grand of goodies on em for a great price. I got some rims for an RX dude. Interested in swapping for your crf450?
I used to get Magoo Chandlers bikes too....all he has now are quads.

Hey..I was yelling but he was all high on Jack Daniels.
I think I remember the shock of finding some stinky terd in the sand. I thought a camel dropped that sucker. Thanks for that memory

Didn't you squat next to it to lay your log? To someone else it looked like a redwood forest had just been cut down out there!
How could you find my turd? You had a choice of walking away from the camp in 360 degrees. then you walked exactly 200 yards or so and found the prize!
Hey did you see what I replied to Guyb about what song was playin when he raced at Corona. He dosen't know who I am. Hope he knows I'm only joking.
I remember around 73 Staten would get out front with a 1/2 lap lead and pick up his girlfriend or a little brother and do sit down wheelies in front of the stands.
Before I started racing in 74 people would tell me Staten was retarded. So I took it for reals back then. Then in the late 70's early 80's when Rex came back from south Africa he pitted next to me. He struck up a conversation with me.And yes...Rex is retarded.I could hardly understand a word from him.
That night he had a cast on preveiously broken wrist and was racing after he modified the cast with a ball peen hammer. He had one of those white Yamaha's back when they were yellow here. Was cool and he was real fast still. Was interesting meeting a childhood idol.
Do you also remember Todd Miller? I witnessed his crash at the first Anaheim in 75 I think. I was on the track when it happened. Todd was very fast back then and I think it was a matter of time before he could have been the King of corona.I went to his funeral with the North High MX team. I remember always riding the Todd Miller memorial every year at corona raceway. He was good people.
For good reason. They were sticking me in 100 Expert, and I'd see Brian Myserscough twice a moto. Once at the start, and once when he'd lap me. But I was always good for points.
Chris, don't ask silly questions like "if I know who this is"... I run the board. I can see e-mail addresses.
Fight? What fight? All I remember from high school are good times. Ah, the rosy glow of long-ago memories.

Dude! It's all good....we had a lot of fun and great memories. I told Scott I was going to mess with you!
Love this site...great idea!
Hey you are close by Irvine...you got time for lunch sometime?
Dean is still at Oakley and we go to lunch from time to time.
Let me know.

Wasn't that the 8 track that was all pink? Montrose was one of my favorites!

I think you might be right. It sure fit the times. I liked the song Space station #5. It was on the same album.
