Oil migration on 2012 crf250r???

Edited Date/Time 4/7/2016 6:30pm
I just put a hot rods crank assembly in my 2012 crf250r about 30 hours ago and this past ride I checked my oil levels and my transmisson oil is migrating to the engine side ( should be separate on Hondas ). I read online that a new right crank seal will fix my oil migration problem. Is this all I will need to stop the oil from migrating to the engine side, or will I need other seals too?

It can also migrate through the center case gasket if that is not sealing properly. Also, make sure your transmission breather is not clogged and allowing the transmission to build pressure.

I had a little plug in my transmisson breather from when I washed my bike last week and when I pulled it out all the pressure released. Do you think it ruined my crank seal? I never rode with it in but it was in there for a few hours after I washed the bike.

I don't think having the breather plugged when the bike is not running would cause pressure to build or hurt anything. You sure you didn't ride the bike with the plug in ?

What kind of oil was in the transmission? Was it regular motor oil or transmission fluid? If it was regular motor oil I would just change the oil and filter in both sides and ride it and monitor levels. If it was transmission fluid, I would change both and then ride and reflush the engine side 2 or 3 times to make sure the transmission fluid is cleared out of that side. Monitor levels for a while until you are sure the seal is OK.
