Castrol A747 ?

Hello,

I' am wanting to use Castrol A747 in my cr125, yes i am aware of the what u should do and dont do with this oil.

Here is my question :

- Is it really Castor based, if yes how many percent ?

- Is it the same oil as waas used in the TZ750 in the 70ies ?????

- Does it really smell castor at the exhuast ?
(Will it at 2% premix (50:1 ratio iirc) smell castor or do you need crazy amounts for it to smell ?

-Having never smelled castor oil before, what is its scent ?? Some say Popcorn, Orange Blossom, others say Fish..


-Is it better then CastrolR40 ?

Have had trouble finding it in the states, I use Blendzall green label in the summer, Gold label in the winter. 40/1 and you'll be very happy.

A 747 may be hard to find. Quality oil.
Alot of castors were A747 rebranded.

Castor smells like castor. Even 20% castor blends like Klotz Supertechniplate or stuff like 927.
Maxima used to sell a full castor like Klotz Green label Benol called "Degummed racing castor"
Most ran 927 though. I dont think Maximas full castor is available anymore. But Klotzs is and Huge innthe shifter kart circles.

Unless you're a pro or racing a shifter kart, I wouldnt run castor....not even a castor blend.

Its just not needed and you wont burn off the film and carbon things up faster.
Id run a good synthetic but the truth is.....Ive seen guys run Walmart Supertech and shit looks amazing after years.

If you want that smell....Klotz of any type gives people boners and Redline Synth used to smell "racy"
Not sure anymore. Most I know use plain jane Dino oil....or Klotz.

As far as oil supply, i have a good friend from france... often ships me belgian beer and good chocolate. So he can ship me the oil too... for about 12$ a liter... think it will do... as he ships as "fragile" it will be kept at the right temp...


I really wanted to know what the smell is like ?????


Abd i want to ues it cuz a friend of mine runs it in his kart, after
20hrs the piston looks almost new... and since im almost always O.T.P. im pretty sure it ll do.

Should be good.

The only downside to Castor is it burns dirtier if youre not burning off the film but other than maybe a bit more carbon in pipe or exhaust port..castor is good stuff.

In your location it wont matter but castor separates from gas at 35*....and always give it a shake just for the hell of it.

Yeah it smells good but I'll never use a castor based oil again.

Back in the day, I had switched from Yamalube to 927 and after only 4 rides on a new top end, engine lost compression to the point it would even start. Took off the cylinder and the ring was so gummed up it was stuck in the piston groove. Never have run that stuff since as it's the only oil that's given me any sort of issue.

Damn near impossible to find in the states anymore. Looking through my YZ125 manual Castrol A747 is the only other oil recommended by Yamaha to run besides Yamalube 2R. It was one of the best oils during it's time used in 2 stroke road racing a lot. Looks like most companies went full synthetic now with group 4/5 oils. I have run Castor 927, Klotz Benol, and Blendzall Green label they are all good castor oils in my book.
