The better question about av gas. Has anyone on here who HAS used it ever run in to problems with it? I haven't had problems and it seems like everyone else who has experience with it hasn't either.
It's all I use uncut and I have never had a single problem. 2007 cr250 with cylinder base cut down .030, 2001 yz250 Keihin pwk carb swap and Vforce3 reeds. I'll say that I've had more problems with pump gas and all the additives that come with it. Whatever additives they are putting in AV fuel I'll gladly take over your average pump gas. AV fuel has a slower burn so you got to run a hotter plug. Maybe every one that has had problems was just from not tuning their carb to run it.

Noted two stroke tuner Chuck "Supertune" Quenzler has a quote that goes something like this.
Race gas and lots of oil=horsepower.

Av gas is great for engines with enough compression. Yz250 stock with pipe is great with av.my nephews yz85 i could not jet it right only bog everywhere. Went back to pump on the 85 and its fine. So with the right compression av gas is cheap and last a long time. Been running it for years

Great thread, thanks for all of the info!

I run 44:1 to in my yz 125s., too. It's nice to read that someone else does! They run super well, and haven't had problems.

Remember, the higher the ratio.......let's say 50:1 actually richens the air to fuel ratio and the more oil you put past 32:1let's say 20:1 will lean the air to fuel ratio.

All of this is fine and dandy if you jet it to compensate for it but you take the chance in the higher ratios of not getting enough oil to your main crank bearings and piston lubrication plus your too rich. On the flip side you have plenty of oil and lubrication but your running in a lean condition.

My guess was over 50 hrs with Motul 800 @ 50:1. I even use to run that in SX at 66:1 as directed by the distributor and ran it at 66:1 in doors and out on a 125 I later mechaniced for without issue. The oil was a guess, the hours not so much.
Also I and friends ran 100% Av in std and higher comp bikes with no drama's and it ran great on the ground and at altitude. Even in my rotary a few times for shits and giggles.
