Polishing PC Platinum Pipe

Edited Date/Time 2/29/2016 1:25pm
Just ordered this Pro Circuit Platinum pipe for my '99 KTM SX125.. Apparently brand new and never used, but showing a little corrosion from sitting on the shelf for so long. Felt like $110 shipped was a fair deal.

I've seen the kind of amazing work that Pacific Crest Pipe Repair does, but given that there's no dents or need to decarbonize the pipe, I'd rather go the DIY route and polish it myself What do you guys suggest for both removing the existing surface rust and protecting the the finish afterwards? Thanks!

Really depends on if its pitted or if those are just spots. If its pitting, nothing will clean it up except a strip and new plating. If its just spotting, automotive chrome polishing paste or brasso will clean it up.

Mothers polish works well. You can also use WD-40 and a green scrubby pad.
