Emx racing?

Well i can't really give you a clean cut answer on this, but he is clearly talking about the European MXGP 250 championship. Kinda like the stepping stone towards a PRO ride for the GP's and such. I guess in USA terms you can compare it to the A / Pro Sport classes that are run at amateur events. Allthought the difference here is that they are similair to the GP's and raced on the same tracks / during the same weekends.

It's far from easy for riders from the USA to do this, but in recent years there has been Americans who competed at these races, guys like Darian Saranyei and Thomas Covington have done this and got good rides / carreers out of it.

Fun fact: The current EMX250 2015 champ is racing the AMA 250 West Coast Supercross series at the moment - Nick Kouwenberg. So far he has made every night program but failed to get into a main event.

I think for American amateurs it's allot more appealing to stay in the USA for sponsor & supercross preparation. But for riders who wanna persue a more outdoor racing carreer and feel like enjoying a European lifestyle / sightseeing / experience this could be well worth it.

To name some more USA guys who came over here recently, Zach Osborne did quite okay and rode for good teams. I believe he won the GP of Turkey at some point and scored some podiums at MX2 Gp's. He is doing good now in USA to so i bet the whole EU experience was a benefit to him. On the other hand Jimmy Decotis also rode for a 250 Kawi Factory team here and didn't do all to good. But now he's back with Geico in the USA for SX and looks like he's getting better and better.

Sorry if this wasn't really a clear answer to your post, just felt like talking about EU racing a bit waiting for the Gp's to kick off again in about a month

While it is true that because of Luongo's mafia practices, you can now buy yourself into certain (even factory) teams, I'm not sure where 25K would land you, especially for a rider that's non-proven in Europe. Buying yourself in is one thing, but these teams don't want to be embarassed so it's not like anyone can just buy himself in.

Besides, It wouldn't be the first time someone bought himself into one of these satellite teams and ended up on shitty bikes, no pay and a lot of expenses that weren't in the contract.

I'm not saying it's impossible, but it will be really hard if you don't know someone in the GP scene that can do some lobbying for you, no matter how much money you can blow.

Fearo, I thougt like you for a long time. But when our 'MXRewind' friend goes with 25000$ to an AMA Team, Canadian Team or South American MX team they will help him too. This is just a way to get their budgets in order. Bye the way Stefan Everts was interesting for Rinaldi because he got backing by his loyal sponsors after his two years of injury. Same goes for Kevin Strijbos, he still gets a part of his wages by personal sponsor, Hens. That is how it goes in modern motocross.

To answer on MXRewind question. There are teams known for helping 'pay drivers', you give them your an amount of euro's and instead of doing it all on your own, they buy bikes for you with their discounts, they tune your bikes with their technical partners, they help you to get your bikes to the races and some even help you to stay at Belgium or Holland. Teams I think about are Gebben Kawasaki, CreyMert Racing, JK Racing, ...
