I may have missed it, but have they announced a fill in rider? Someone told me JG33 got the call up, but I didn't know if it was correct.

Filthy Phil will be on Justins bike as Weston will return to action this week I'm assuming.

Why would they pick up Grant when they have a fill in rider already on the team for this exact purpose? I think he has a team bike already set up for him. Phil Nicoletti, ever heard of him?

I find it ironic that Nicoletti has seemingly been in more races as a backup rider than the permanent riders in the JGR camp. JGR does their sponsors a huge favor by keeping Nicoletti around.

It has been a good arrangement for all parties so far. Nicoletti has had issues crashing in SX, in past years, and probably would have sacrificed his health for outdoors if he had a permanent SX ride. Lets hope he can keep it on two wheels, for the most part, because it looks like he will be in a majority of the races this season.

Talk about some interesting timing. Barcia comes into the season under the radar with a injury. Weston Peick does a Weston Peick, Nicholetti comes in for Peick, Barcia leaves due to injury, Nicholleti stays and fills in for Barcia, Peick comes back. I tell ya

It would be kind of funny in a "The Dark Cloud Always Hovers Over Phil" way if they hired Grant and told Phil to stay on the bench. Evil

In all seriousness, I hope Phil can improve throughout the season. Perhaps just knowing that he will be racing every weekend will help him out in the mental department.

It would be a good move for Suzuki if they have any money... That kind of sucks showing up without a rider...

It would be very cool to see him do well. He now has a chance to string several weeks of SX racing together.

Anyone have any idea how long it takes to recover from the kind of surgery Barcia is going to have? I have no idea but would guess Phil is going to be riding SX for sure for at least the next 6 weeks straight. Heck, it could be for the rest of the SX season.

Yes Boss......... If I knew the answer I wouldn't have asked.
I hope JGR get the reward for effort soon. I am a fan of the whole JGR set up.

There are probably lots of mx insiders who have been waiting for the first major injury, to tell their friends that Grant will be getting a call. I'm surprised this topic hasn't generated more threads. In many cases, they might have been correct, but JGR is prepared for occurrences of this nature. I'm a fan of the whole JGR set up too, and hope Nicoletti or Peick can wrestle the championship away from Dungey somehow...without fighting, of course.lol

Agreed, its a smart move to have a guy of Phil's calibre on the book and upto speed with there staff and equipment.
I often wonder if the likes of Suzuki should do the same thing with someone like Grant.
Or it would be a benefit for anyteam really. guys like Metcalfe, Grant,Hanny for sx, J-Law (he he) would be good value in a position like Phil.

I wouldn't say cursed, but they just haven't been able to attract the right riders. I blame it on the engine design prior to 2015. I'd imagine things might change once Webb and JMart move up. I'm really hoping JGR can get one of them to sign on to their program. Sounds like the bike is finally on the right side of things and riders may not be scared of the bike any longer. I like JGR in the sport and hope they don't go away.
