This is the guy selling yet another piece of America.
And it's not the first time for him.

His face should be on every billboard, telephone pole and stop sign in America.
Along with the way he does business, and thinks about his fellow countrymen.

You think any of the guys at the top care about nationality? The only colour that matters to them is green, take a look at ol' Great Britain....there isn't much we haven't sold off to the lowest bidder (undervalued IPO's for banking friends)

Pure capitalism. Isn't this what we should all want? We don't want the Government interfering with the free market do we?

Free Market...

Does that even exist anymore?

Why would China pay for it when they steal the technology already? Dumb chinsmen.

For years Chinese throw down hack attacks on companies and steal their secrets if they can't reverse engineer it. It's known.

I live in Erie PA (I live out in the county anyway ) where we house the biggest GE plant in the nation for locomotives and whatnot, this place is a city within a city, and they are turning it into a ghost town, many are predicting once GE totally pulls out of Erie that our city will die. Things are not good with the direction they are going.

I watched that too. Very interesting. I found it even more interesting that the US Government had purchased the wind turbines from China using the American owner's stolen code. The problem is right beneath our nose. . . not in China. Selling IP to foreign countries needs to be viewed similar to treason.

Fear not, there's bound to be a Starbucks to save the city from total death.
Isn't that all we need? A Starbucks on every corner. Manufacturing, who needs it?
An interesting point, we have now lost not only our manufacturing base, we are also
not the leaders in the machines needed to do the manufacturing. Think about that.

They make engines for a LOT more than just the Apache. Smile MANY military and civilian jet engines are manufactured by GE. But, according to the article it's just the appliance division that's going.

Oh, just the division that our tax dollars don't pay for...

That's okay, then.

Ya I have a friend and competitor who lives in Clarion...works for GE loco division...he's getting worried too.
It's ridiculous that this country is giving up/selling so much manufacturing capacity. We're becoming too dependent on the rest of the world for our durable goods.

Too late. Basically every economic problem we have is from Govt interference in what used to be a free market. The 2008 economic collapse was not possible without Govt interference. And the same Govt people protected the The Financial Institutions and people running them from accountability or prosecution.

I think you got that bassackwards.

The 2008 collapse was caused by Wall Street's interference with our government.

Investment banker's lobbyists greased the right palms to get long-standing regulations de-activated.

And they're still greasing palms to make sure new regulations are meaningless.

No, I don't have anything backwards. Wall Street or anyone else can go to Congress and grease palms. Congress is the ones that decide weather or not to sell out. And they have and by doing so they have interfered and are 100% responsible for allowing the conditions for Wall Street to take advantage of. Wall Street, Goldman Sachs, JP Morgan, Federal Reserve, Treasury, Congress, White House, all one is the same when it comes to 2008. Add in Govt interference with FHA, HUD, Fanny and Freddie. All of these Unholy relationships played a part are responsible. Individuals that took out loans they could never have paid have to be personally responsible as well.

But at the end of the day the Federal Govt. not only repealed the Glass Steagall Act in 1999, but pushed these loans thru Fanny, Freddie and every kind of Govt . housing agency.

Without Govt interference, Govt loan gauruntees, and Govt protection for to big too fail. A real free market keeps things in check with natural failure. Banks that know they can fail and don't have Govt. loan guarantees don't write tens of thousands of subprime no down payment loans. Its that simple.

And you are right about the new regulations written by the Banks for Congress to pass. That's Govt interference in a free market.

The Govt should be involved to regulate Business and finance.Absolutely. But we have gone way beyond that. Not to mention that the Justice Dept. and SECs selective inforcement and prosecution.

I always thought it was strange how Bernie Madoff got popped right after 2008, after running a Ponzi scheme for what 20 years. Probably coincidence but it almost seemed like they needed a fall guy.

This Jeffery Immelt guy was or maybe still is the Chair for Obamas Council and Jobs and Business, Strengthen American Business or something to that effect. Im not sure how these deals work with GE selling their appliance division to a Chinese Co. or how that effects us. I assume its not good for us but I don't know. I do know howerver that Obama and Jeff were not spending time in all the White House meetings talking about my little nickel and dime business with a couple employees and how they could better serve me and my employees and 100,000 other small business like mine.

No they were talking about how to best use tax payer money to subsidize business for GE and align it with Obamas agenda. So they come up with a scheme where the Fed Gov takes 100 billion out of our paychecks. Run it thru Congress to subsidize a state of the art Solar Energy Plant. Shockingly GE gets the contract and make a huge profit. Then they turn around and sell us they energy back at an inflated rate. But its all good because we lowered global temps by .0000000001 degrees and saved the planet. Now I don't know that that's exactly how all this works, but its probably not to far off.

I will likely vote libertarian again just because I figure if we want change. Well we gotta do something different.

yall make sure to vote so these assholes can get more tax breaks!!!!!
whichever side you vote for , it wont make a iota of difference because they are all bought and paid for by the same people , the voting is just to give the illusion of choice.

You can be sure that anyone who can , or wants to make a difference , wont get a chance, because it isnt in the national interest to actually have a government that is actually there to look after the people.

Ron Paul is one of the few that understands how it is , and needs to be in the future and he got cheated out of even getting a shot.. while that pains me , at least he is alive to tell the tale.

Its ok , this is non moto , nobody will see it.

Wink

While im well aware that european politics has its shortcomings, i am amazed at the people wheeled out as 'presidential candidates'... the last 4 were nothing short of laughable, and this time ... well i for one think that while Trump has his issues , i would put him in the White House over all the other clowns , just to see all what the fallout would be and to watch all the people who put all their money on the wrong horse go into meltdown.

GE is moving towards industrial businesses and "appliances and finance" don't fit that direction. For example there is a huge market in providing power to emerging nations and GE is a major player in that market (recent Alstrom acquisition).. Best to focus on the future to remain viable..

Those calling for more regulation don't seem to have a problem buying an iPhone or any other electronic built in China..
