Keep in mind aluminum will have more surface area (or i would assume so) which will increase difference in weight of powder coat. So 1/4 lb powder coat on steel frame maybe be 3/8lb on alunimum? Anodizing definitely the way to go in my opinion

Anodise it! no weight difference and protects it completely, If my RM's frame was aluminium it would be ano'd...
