I'm almost certain that the local powder coaters won't have the colour I want and I'm not keen on paying for a 4kg tub (minimum special colour order in size apparently) or sending the whole frame off somewhere to get done, so that's why I'm considering paint, but I will go in and see what they have.

I want Yamaha metallic blue by the way.
I agree don't give up on the metallic blue lol. Get that however you can lol

Check out this place. You don't have to order in large quantities and they have some sweet colors.

Another member on the forum recently used this color on his 04 YZ250 and it looks sweet!

I fixed my wobbling brake pedal by going to http://www.mcmaster.com/ and ordering the appropriate bronze sleeve bearing. Using a vise, the old one presses out and the new one presses in. A cheap and easy fix - around $3-4 if I remember correctly."

My rear brake is really sloppy and had been wearing against my clutch cover. Ridiculous to replace the entire OEM pedal for 100$ when it's perfectly fine.

Haven't tore my bike down that far yet to see.

Damn you slosh, I didn't realise there were black RM tanks available, you're going to end up costing me 200 quid for that piece of info.

Mine was nice and tight when I got it from what I remember, the whole bike didn't have many hours on it, it was just neglected so badly.

If its sloppy when I put it back together Ill make a bush out of either Pactine plastic or order that bronze bearing.

So I cleaned and resealed my airbox yesterday, stupidly I did a really nice job of cleaning it inside and sealing the boot to the box, after I was done I gave the outside a wipe down and it looks shithouse. I didn't clean it when I first got the bike and it looked good, but now it looks like old mate sandpapered the F*@ck out of it.

What should I do with it?

Airbox graphics will cover up the scratches so at least the scratches there won't be on show... Depends how anal you want to be about it I guess. Mine looked the same, but at soon as I put the graphics over them you'd never know it was that badly scratched.

Did you make a decision on the airbox in the end?

No haven't done anything with the airbag since that day, I was almost going to put an RMZ250 subframe and air box on it but I decided against it. I'll just persist with sanding down when I get time I suppose.

I got given a pair of OEM titanium foot pegs from a good friend on Friday, he's building an 06 RM250 and bought some Fastway pegs off eBay so he donated his originals to me.

I've seen someone on here mount and rmz subframe on their rm 250 on this forum. Then used their oem rm 250 air boot. From what I remember only needed to make tabs and weld them onto the rmz subframe to get evertthing to line up. Really trick mod. Updated rmz rear plastics. Expensive mod to do tho.

Yeah I saw that on TT a little while ago, its a couple hundred just for the subframe and then another few hundred for a new air box, extend the seat then gotta buy RM-Z plastics so probably looking at 600-700 AUD to convert it. Im not going to worry about it now, and I'm not sure that it will tie in that well with RM tank and shrouds.

Some small updates.

My seat cover will be finished by next week and frame will be painted hopefully by then too.
Engine cases are ready for anodising and the cylinder will be matched in Cerakote after they come back.

Made some weld in braces for my radiators, will get them done through work soon. Im going to get the radiators done in black I think.

Things are going slow again at the moment as I'm relying on doing small bike jobs to generate cash flow for the project ad I'm in the middle of prettying up my truck to sell it. But I did get this KTM dropped off to me not long ago for some work so Ill hook into that and get my project going again.

Thanks.

What do you mean by Cerakote your cylinder? How do you do that? Strip the nikasil then apply the Cerakote coating and then re nikasil the cylinder?

Sounds cool tho

No Cerakote is a ceramic paint, seeing as I can't anodise the cylinder with the cases, as the nickel plating will react with the acid dip and the anodising process, I'm just going to get it colour matched in Cerakote when its all done. Cerakote I found a guy in town here that does it.

Yeah can't wait to see it all together. Frame looks unreal up close, Thanks to my mate Mitchell for the spray job.

My shock was done but then I noticed this...
New compression adjuster thanks.

My radiators done with the weld in bracing.

Ok so I got my last batch of anodising back, its unreal. Came out just as I envisioned, Got the hubs, triple clamps, engine cases, power valve covers, subframe, water pump cover and cylinder head done in hard ano black. I got the wheel spacers (originally they were gold) redone in blue along with the chain guard, top engine mounts and exhaust hanger.

So I did a quick mock up of the engine to see what it would look like, to see if I would like it. Theres nothing inside but all the bolts for the engine are the original ones that have been replaced, look really nice and about half the price of buying new hardware from suzuki.

Laced the wheels up, rear still needs to be trued but the front is pretty much perfect with 0.2mm runout. Used new Stainless spokes with the OEM forged alloy nipples on the front and Bulldog stainless spokes and nipples on the back, bolted up the new Renthal sprocket with my special lightened rear disc, it makes up for all of the titanium bolts that I didn't buy haha.

Had a bit of a set back over the weekend, the frame needs to be repainted, so I mocked up the frame and front suspension also. Fabbed up a nice little bracket to mount the RMZ front fender to the RM triple clamps using the proper holes cast into the RMZ fender, just drilled and tapped an M6 hole into the front of the lower triple clamp, its not level in the pictures I know, I levelled it out after the pictures were taken and she mounts the fender sweet as now.

Mounts the fender and number plate up prefect. Got a nice little carbon front brake line guide and finally got the Renthal Gen 2 Intelli-levers I had been lusting over for more than a year.

The Factory Metal Works reservoir caps in Teal colour with Core Moto stainless braided lines in clear with blue fittings and Stainless banjo bolts.

Ande here is pretty close to what the radiator shrouds will look like, doing them myself on Motocal, its very addictive and i can easily lose 4 or 5 hours on there designing and re designing things in the kit, sometimes i gotta tell myself to just leave it be or it will never be done but after i think about how i want something to look over a few days or get an idea in my head it must be fixed haha.
