Still surprised; but, money changes everything.
I have no inside knowledge, but my bet would be the word "Everts" had way more influence than the word "Money"

I just hope the guy finishes the season and gets a few top 5 along the way. He has the potential.
a few top 5 s. man the only reason he will not get win s next year is injury . a few top 5 s would be a terrible year for him .

I think with Stefan to mentor him he'll be sweet, but if he does get injured, he'll never wonder what if & that's pretty damn cool in my book.
It was pretty telling an interview he gave where he said sometimes he had pushed harder than needed. If he can follow that through & back off a touch next season( if not needed ), I think he'll be really tough to beat.

I love me some Ben Townley and I as I said above I hope he has a successful year (whatever that is for him) but I do find it weird that Suzuki will hire a dude that retired 2 years ago that was very injury prone, while Dean Ferris (and I'm also hearing Waters, not 100% on that though) had to come home cause of no ride over there.. Maybe those two don't have the outright speed of Townley but I'd say they are less of a risk..

But who knows he could kill it and they'll look like genius'

This year got me interested enough in the GPs and with this news, I may get another MXGP-TV package next year.

Surely the fact I did not write " STAMP. IT " at the end of my post two weeks ago on this news ....should have given my post credability ??

What should they have done otherwise? All the other riders who are capable of winning or getting podiums already had a seat for 2016. I think this is the best outcome for both parties. A risk, yes, but Kawasaki getting Villopoto overhere was too.

exactly! same reason canard still has a factory ride when he has crashed out almost every year. He has the talent/ speed to win- which is something you either have or you don't!!

with all due respect to waters and ferris, they are great riders- but do you honestly think they could win a race against a fully fit cairoli, febvre, simpson, desalle, paulin, nagl, strijbos etc?!

REALLY hope ben can keep it together for the full season, hes had so much bad luck in his career- the guy has elite level talent and skill, he's already proven that winning the mx2 world title, lights supercross title and battling all summer long with RV in his prime!! (how good was that 07 season by the way- they were HAULING)

not to mention his running with RC at the nations, battling with everts in mx1.......

how good is mx1 going to be next year?!!! keeping everything crossed that all the contenders stay fully fit. Cant wait for valkenswaard!! I will be cheering ben from the sidelines- he deserves another title even if it is his swansong!!

like I said they don't have the out and out speed of Townley but he's 30 and was retired for two years
those things you mentioned were awesome but they were also 7 years ago..

Don't get me wrong I'm stoked for him and really really want him to be successful.. I just think it's weird that two young riders in their prime (that could be and have been top 5) can't find or keep a good ride but a dude that retired can.. I guess that's just the way our sport works
