I'll ride a couple hare scrambles on my YZ125 every year and all I do is slap some handguards on it. My gearing isn't great for off-road and my suspension is too stiff but its still fun.

If I was going to dedicate that bike to off-road I'd do the following
1. Soften up the suspension
2. Go up two teeth on the rear sprocket
3. Cut the bars down 1/2-1" on each side and install bark busters
4. Lean out the pilot and needle
5. Install a skidplate, radiator braces and pipe guard
Same. I just wind out compression and rebound a few clicks all-round and run a little more rear sag with forks up through the clamps.
Mine is completely stock other than gearing and I've ridden a few hare / endure events. It was allot better than I thought it would be. Mega quick through tight woods, just loose a bit in any wide open field sections. Allot less tiring than a 450. Mine will just do an hour on standard tank if the track isn't too wide open

I had a 98 KTM125EXC (yep Marzocchi 45 conventionals equipped) back at the turn of the millennium, as my 1st off road/enduro bike after hanging up the MX racing boots, and it was awesome. More work to keep on the pipe, but really quick in the bush with only valving mods, that's it. I used to call it Jesus cause it saved me so many times from imminent swap-to-death, and I used to ride with some of our national MX top riders on the trail (mid week training), and they never made me look bad on their 250 2T MXer practice bikes, where as on the track, add 15 secs a lap on my one and only heater. I also learned about flywheel weight, and how it helps in traction and "chugability", and it would lug up a hill off the power without wheel spin and get me to the top of snotty rock strewn widow makers. I'm no big guy but. Once you get the knack, you'll be on fire. Ask Shane Watts.

Edit: That's actually my spare 2002 engine. Has the 06 in it now, with a Scalvini cone section pipe and carbon silencer.
Once the engine's been to TSP she'll have 42rwhp. About the same as a 2016 KTM150.
I have new 2014 RMZ250 suspension for it as well.
Seat cover is the same as the 144AF. Custom made seat foam. Nice and flat from the tank to the rear guard.

And he's back! All bullshit aside, I know you got some good Mek and Nicks skills, what dif are you seeing from ceramics and who's makes the best? Also, you do strokers? May have a 93 CR125 if interested?
