Just the decision on whether to suspend the penalty based on the outcome of a full CAS investigation, due on Friday.

Which makes matters really confusing for anyone, since the penalty was meant to be applied to the 2015 racing license penalty points system.
I think the Penalty points last a year from when they were placed on them, it is possible that CAS can say it was only 2 penalty points, and that Rossi will carry 3 into next year,

Marquez says his MotoGP feud with Rossi is uncharted territory

"During my career I have had many battles, but I never have I felt this," said Marquez.

"On that corner Valentino passed me, but then I saw he was completely straight and looking at me and stopping a lot.

"I was just waiting because there was nothing to do at that point and then I saw with his leg he pushed my arm and my front brake, and then I locked the front wheel and crashed."

Well he is sticking to his story(except for now it's his arm also, and then I locked the front wheel)...I guess he never heard of "brake checking" before?

Marquez is becoming a joker ... its obvious , Rossi was right and Marquez blames Rossi for not winning the title this year as Emilio Alzamora stated before the last race

Brake checking would result in instant penalty action in any road racing, but alas, that has nothing to do its this. But sounds like you'd condone it.

Now I'm new to mx (been on a 450sx for the last two seasons), but the last two decades on road courses on 2 and 4 wheels. I've learned a lot on moto, but sadly people think the same racing rules applies to tarmac - it doesn't.

I would not put a lot of stock into what any parties say now, or whether anyone actually believes what he is saying. It's going to be self-serving posturing from here on out.

Given the warm and fuzzies between him and Lorenzo in past years, it's a bit of a stretch to say its uncharted territory for him.

I love watching him ride when he's on, but he needs to go to either the mirror or HRC R&D to look at who lost him the title this year.

I think MM, Lorenzo and HRC have not done themselves any help by issuing statements this week, if there was ever a week to STFU it was this one,

Do you think he thinks no one has watched the replay?

You know guys, Lorenzo has a chance to become more than a Champion.
He could become a legend.
After thinking about what, if any, good ending could come from this, ah, situation, a bit of American Baseball
History came to mind.

https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Babe_Ruth%27s_called_shot

" and now the riders are taking their positions..........Lorenzo has qualified and taken the #1 position on the first row......
.....Pedrosa and Marquez round out the front........Rossi, regulated to the final row looks as though the life has left him......the stewards are clearing the track......the track is clear as the riders take position.............engines are being revved to clear them out..........the riders inch towards the front of their boxes...............wait a second............
Is that Lorenzo holding up his hand?.............yes............There must be a problem with the Yamaha.......no.......
wait.......the Yamaha has pulled out of the starting grid and is heading to the paddock.............no..........wait........
It looks as though Lorenzo is heading to the back of the grid..............yes..........yes........he is..........he is lining up
Right next to Rossi!...............what the hell...........Lorenzo offers a handshake..............Rossi accepts.........ladies and gentlemen...........this announcer is at a loss for words...........the bikes scream.......the flag drops................

Lol. Cool story. Lorenzo though...never never. I'd bet Marquez would do that before Lorenzo. Hell he already dropped back in Sepang to race Rossi
11/3/2015 6:23pm
Grady. If that happened, however unlikely, would be one of the greatest moments in all of sports, of all time.

I think it would be more likely to see everyone gets out of Rossi's way on the start, which also has a snowballs chance in hell, but would be nowhere as cool as your scenario. I might actually start to really like 99 if that happened.

Oh Kongols, no clue. It's stale news if it's on print, so I'm sure it goes a few races back to Silverstone or Aragon where he had fallen well over 2 race wins back in points from the Yamaha boys.

-----------------

I keep thinking about Jorge Lorenzo (or specifically, it seems, Lorenzo's lawyers) asking to appear as a participant to the CAS appeal. Now, on the surface, and I'm sure to a lot of people here, a lot of Lorenzo hatred will surface. But try to get beyond that...

Yamaha and specifically Lin Jarvis was clearly supporting Rossi, not only in the RD decision, but the first FIM appeal. The joint Yamaha/Movistar statement against the HRC statement confirms this - Rossi is not alone in his support. But they stopped short of saying they will help in the appeal - specifically:

"Yamaha has no wish to enter into further discussion regarding this unfortunate affair and our desire is to conclude the 2015 MotoGP season in the best possible way."

Lorenzo, being the sensitive sort he is, has definitely felt like the forgotten Yamaha man in the situation. He has already pointed out Rossi has gotten 3 more points guaranteed due to the incident, and likely feels it could be especially unfair if Rossi gets the punishment removed.

I severely doubt Lorenzo is worried that Rossi escaping punishment could set a precedent for rough riding in the last race. This is 100% Lorenzo's track - Valencia in 2013 is any indication. He practically held up the entire field to back up Marquez into getting into an accident or passed. The pit board mechanic was actually gesturing him to slow down whenever he started dropping the pack.

But - has it gotten worse than that? Specifically, has Lorenzo thrown in the towel on Yamaha and going to leave the team? The request to appear at the appeal would say so.

I'm sure that while he isn't expecting to gain any Rossi supporters in the short or long term, the idea of him appearing _against_ Rossi in the appeal will for sure anger Jarvis, if not Yamaha. But it's possible - he might have already made his decision to leave?

He has a contract for 2016 worth $6.5MM but it would be expected to go up to the $10MM that Marquez and Rossi earn, after a third MotoGP WC. And it's very possible that Ducati is looking for someone with WC potential to replace Dovi at least - Ducati, now with Audi money might be willing to pony up the cash to buy him out.

I'm sure Ducati is looking for someone, and until recently, their parent company definitely had the coin to make it happen. Maybe it's Lorenzo.

In 2009, when Lorenzo joined Yamaha, Rossi literally had them put a wall between the garages to separate the two from sharing any setup data. Nowadays, supposedly, it is all shared, and it is actually true that Lin Jarvis stands in the middle during the races, one foot on Jorge's side of the garage, one foot on Valentino's. But it could go all back to the wall. If a team could relieve Yamaha of a potentially acrimonious 2016 year, especially right now if they strike while the iron is hot, they may get a bargain.

nice article , good questions

Let me ask you a couple questions:
When have you seen Marquez put up zero fight for 1st or 2nd?
When have you seen Marquez lose .4-.8 seconds a lap at the start of any Gran Prix in the past 3 years?
Marquez claims he was waiting for tires to come in, 7 laps into the race? They worked ok for Pedrosa?
Marquez claimed set up issues and more than that, claimed turn four was a huge problem for him. Why then would you keep stuffing it up the inside of Rossi in that corner having to over slow the bike and allowing the two ahead to keep getting away?
Did anyone else notice that when Rossi rode back up the inside of Marquez before the contact he was sitting up?? That’s how much Marquez was slowing up mid corner, go back and check it for your self.

absolutely zero chance of that happening....

BUT if it did happen, you're right- Lorenzo would become a legend and win back a lot of fans. Best man wins scenario- how good would that be?!!

I think the race will be an anti climax, I think rossi gets back up to about 8th, Jorge gets an easy podium and wins the title. Hope im wrong, it will be a shame for it to end like this... however, if it does - I think rossi might have one last championship run left in him for 2016!!

still winning GP's at 36 years of age- now that is badass!!!

Hahaha, I was just surprised that the link made it 2 pages without anyone going back to reference it, it's a great perspective on the whole thing and not from some random yahoo.

I think it's a great link-back to the Star motorcycle school, and well played by the younger, forgotten Pridmore.

What was well played? I didn't see anything referencing star school other than he didn't start a new web domain to host the article.

Watch the last dry race in 2013.

Lorenzo was in control of the entire race, made no effort to hide that he was slowing the pack down to disrupt Marquez's pace in the possibility to move him down the order and lose his championship. Pedrosa became a pawn/buffer in the game. Lorenzo could pull away whenever he wanted to, and was given signals to slow down by his mechanic.

Watch Marquez give Dani 2nd for all his efforts. Rossi was absolutely nowhere pace-wise to help Lorenzo.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cRFHrsIjy4I

Throw in a little rain like 2014, and it becomes a shit show, down to tire or bike swap choice. Those who stayed out, profited. It will be awesome for Rossi if it rains in Spain this weekend.

Here is a great (Spanish captioned) interview from Fonsi Nieto.

He says if Rossi kicked Marquez would have gone off the high side, not the low side.
