Hello all,
I am a newbee on this forum as well on restauration of motorcylces.
So this going to be my first project.
i just bought myself a RM80 for €125,00 ($169)
And was told the bike is modelyear 1979, i am still checking if it is.
What i seen is that the differences between 1977 to 1979 is not that big.
About the rear swingarm, i now that is not original.
I will add some pictures and like to keep up here when i have done any changes.

Kind regards from the Netherlands.
Dennis

Well i noticed that as well, bought it with the chain like this.
Only the swingarm is not original and has no chainguide, so i dont now how i fix that problem.
I also found out that the engine is nog original as well. So thats really
I am not sure how big the enige is, have to check the engine number for that.
here some pictures from derusting the thank.
First took out the dirt.
Then inspected the tank,
Tank and vinegar.
I did 4 liter of vinegar and 2 liter of water in the tank.
Now i will wait for 4 weeks, and everyday i shake the tank.
I hope it will be clean after 4 weeks.

I think i will leave the swingarm in the RM80, first cleaning and maybe i can anodize it wen i can remove the rust.
Problem would be were to make the chainguide.
Im still finding more non original parts.
What do you think of the front end. Is this original??
There is no bolt on top, looks like welded or something what was pushed in with a hammer.
i was looking for a 80cc RM engine, and YES
And the rest of the bike was also there.
I think its a better base to restore, it's a 1981 RM80
The engine needs a new 3th and 4th gear, it doesnt work properly.
So as soon as i have some spare time i will take the engine apart.
do you have still that suzuki rm80?
