Here it is. . . Typical Newb Crap

I halfway expected this to be dumbgeoned but then again, I expected the Concussions thread to get thrown there.

As if the OP wasn't ambiguous enough in the concussions thread, he dropped this ripe line of bait in the thread also.

". . . But I'm thinking more head Injuries come from like a 6D or Flex"

-Tevenson, at his finest hour

I was going to post some similar bait in this thread about knee braces causing broken legs but then it turned into somewhat of a legit thread so I let it be.

They're the same as cervical protectors, helmets and chest protector.......

Until someone comes up with a statistical proof or study, how can we know if riding with broken legs is more dangerous than riding with broken arms.....

I need facts... I'm not going to stop riding with 2 broken femurs just because someone rumoring it is painful or dangerous.

It's funny you mention the knee braces causing broken legs since that's exactly what caused my leg to break. However, that tells me that the brace did exactly what it's designed to do. It took a large force and transferred to a long bone which is generally stronger and heals better than a joint injury. Unfortunately for me, my break was not a normal break and extended from mid-shaft up into my tibial plateaus causing significant injury. This wasn't a function of my knee brace, but it was the break itself. I can only imagine how bad my knee would have been had I not had my knee braces on. My toes would have been somewhere up in my hip and I'd probably be searching for a new career. As bad as my injury was, I was able to move forward and return to work. I've always worn knee braces. I will continue to do so despite my injury being a direct result of wearing them.

Personally I feel that broken legs are one of the things changing the sport in a bad way. First it was just broken arms or ankles, but now broken legs have made the sport much more dangerous.

I dont think people like Canard will ever get the time back that he lost when he tried out broken legs.

Ive been talking a a few people in the industry and actually heard some grumblings of a broken legs ban in the works. It just makes the sport way more dangerous than it needs to be.

How do you feel about them
Not a fan. They are painful and expensive, cause involuntary time off the bike and are a real pain in the a$$ when setting off the metal detectors at the airport and dealing with TSA.

On the plus side, if you're going to break a bone, the tib/fib heals quickly, especially with surgery (had one with and without) and in a lot of ways is less inconvenient than a cast on your arm.

That is some impressive hardware Shane!

Here are mine, the left side hardware broke and I got new hardware last month. The right side will be scheduled for another surgery, remove rod, bore bone, reinstall rod and bone graft. I hope to hell the new doc will line stuff up better.

legs suck! i broke my left femur hip and pelvis all in one crash. end result is a total hip replacement and now chronic back pain due to my pelvis being bent. Leg is still 1.25 inch short than right side.

A broken heart is worst. Can someone share a kleenex?

Sorry, I just don't understand the question. What does everyone think of broken legs? Nope. I just don't understand what your goal is with the question.

Ask a more simple question like, "Would anyone like a teabag? At least with that question, we can say, "No thank you" or "Yes, that would be lovely, you big hairy lover."

Thank you for asking, IWreckAlot. I, however, will have to pass, but thank you for asking.

See how well that form of questioning worked? So polite too.

I tell ya. IWreckAlot get's it.
