So, my Wife and I are looking to make hotel reservations for the MXGP of Charlotte. What is the format for MXGP? I'm near Raleigh and want to go for the 2 MX2 and 2 MXGP motos. I see it is on a Saturday so I would think I would need to go up Friday afternoon, stay in hotel Friday night and then be at Speedway early Saturday morning. But what are the MXGP event layout times? If they end around 5 (like the US Nationals) we could just drive home that night. Just curious if anyone knows their format or how it was time schedule wise at Glen Helen last year so I can plan whether need to reserve a room for Saturday night or not.

Thanks.

You will want to be there Friday night and Saturday night. There will be a lot to do beyond just MXGP (as if that isn't enough).

It is a bit early to have exact moto times pinned down yet. Note that MXGP racing is scheduled for Saturday.

My parents live just outside Charlotte. And that's 3 days after my birthday. Guess I know where I'll be doing that weekend!!!

I live in Gastonia which is about 25 miles to the speedway. I can't wait to hear what people have to say about the area that are not familiar with it. Bruton smith Blvd is the exit off i85 to take you to the speedway but when people get here they will see what I'm talking about with the hotels, golf course, concord mills mall and everything else that's not even a mile from the track! Should be a great event

First of all it's a night race, so I don't know what glen Helens schedule has to do with anything.

Sorry I tried to help. maybe you could try to be less of an asshole and try to find the schedule from Qatar.

flatout111, I think you will want to be at the track Friday and Saturday to watch all the action both days.

Here is the Qatar night race schedule from earlier this year.
I think the 16 Charlotte race will have a little different schedule as the Qatar second motos were run really late at night..

I wouldnt expect it to be a night event (unless its already announced it is , but i havent seen that) .

Night event in Charlotte will mean it wont air till midnight in europe at the earliest , and thats the main audience, Qatar is a night race because thats afternoon in europe. I would expect it to be like Glen Helen run at normal time local , and be on TV here from 7pm onwards

Its a 2 day event , stuff to do on friday , practice , qualifying , and qualifying races that are now for points .. i would be getting there thursday to see whats going on , and enjoying 2 days at the track .

Cheers , i hadnt seen that , means that europe doesnt get to see the race, which is a bit stupid really.

I have no issue with watching west coast SX live at 3am, but i wont be staying up to watch the GP, DVR will look after that.

The Argentina timing was spot on , think it was 7pm here , 8pm mainland europe.

Might be a cool trip to do both GP's in the US , but getting that done , and Maggiora will be tough.
