There is nothing better them following your son and watching them progress on the bike.

I started mine out on an old clapped out KTM 50, made a little track by our house and told him that when he could beat me(I was running) to the other side of the track that I
would take him to the real track.

That was 13 years ago, and so many good times that I can’t even remember then all. When I got myself a 250f(I have always ridden a 125) to keep up with him on his 85 I knew that it was real soon that he would be way faster them me. I let him ride my 250 one day and that was it, no way I could ever keep up with him again. I am no slow poke; I have won a couple of local championships.

Today he is 17 and we still ride together at the local tracks but I do not try to keep up with him. When he passes me on the track all I can do is smile and remember when he first started riding that clapped out 50.

By buddy got smoked by his son at a practice track a couple of months ago, he passed him on one wheel in a big wide sweeper. He told the kid if he ever passed him like that again with his friends watching, he would kick his ass.
