We stopped by Ryno's gym on an "easy" day, while Michael Hall, Broc Hepler, and an amateur rider were working out. Take a peek to see and hear some of what happens there.

I've been saying all that for 20 years. I've never had arm pump and a 250 lb MX bike feels like a toy to me.

I just dont have that much talent.

Now, if they look like that in 20 years I'll be semi impressed.

Not counting food, my program costs 30 bucks a month, and I look just as good or better than anyone there.
Rich? Is that you?

Seriously? I'd have to write a journal. Of which I have never EVER kept track.

I don't even wear an MP3 player. Cant concentrate that way.

Paul Check is very well known but some of his stuff is out there. Standing on a stability ball lifting kettle bells is a injury waiting to happen. The risk to reward is not worth it. Not too long ago a high profile trainer was doing the same thing at a seminar and fell off the stability ball and blew out his knee. There is no carry over working out on a unstable service. Eric Cressey did his Masters thesis on the subject.

It's just different ways of working out is all. What works for Ryno doesn't necessarily work for everyone else.

Number one priority of a trainer is not to injure his clients. Injure a multimillonaire athlete in any major sport, the head coach will be pissed and the trainer's reputation will be ruined.

Stand on a Bosa, less risk similar reward.

Just as an FYI...Ryno demonstrated standing on the ball. Does he have his clients do that? I don't know. None of the guys in the gym with him used that during their workout. (Maybe Michael tried it...just to see if he could do it.)

Sometimes the level of nitpicking here astounds me. Smile

Its funny you say that, even the people that know what they are talking about get nitpicked.

Lot of people posting here that should be making a killing training people instead of wasting their talent on the net.

Training on a Bosa only helps one improve their ability on a Bosa. There's no carry over to a stable surface. Stability balls and bosa balls are pieces of equipment that physical therapists use in rehabing their patients. Personal trainers/Paul Check started using them and it became something "new" to do.

Not debating just pointing out it is safer and similar rewards. It is good for core. The Ball is good when using it for push-ups and stuff for me. To me it breaks up routines. I did pilates a number of years and used those things. It was very good for my riding.

I would be interested in if Ryno screens any of his clients to see if they have any shortcomings or deficiences that need to be addressed. Just about every professional sport strength trainer uses Gray Cook's Functional Movement Screen(FMS) to evaluate their athletes.

Regeneration is also very important. Especially for those who have crashed riding a motorcycle. Foam rolling and deep tissue massage is key to breaking up scar tissue and working on trigger points.

really? How do you figure? Improved balance doesn't transfer to other aspects?

On the PT side, I do free squats on the Bosa to improve knee stability and I think that helps.
