This bike has always ran fine. Now it will start cold with choke on in about 4-5 kicks. Once it is hot it takes about 6 kicks with wide open throttle to get it to light. The carb is clean, float level is correct, compression is good and gas is fresh. The hot starting with wide open throttle only seems to indicate a "flooded" condition, but there is nothing that I see that would create such a condition. It runs super strong after starting.

Where should I start looking?

Thanks

What does the spark plug look like?
What color is the tip of the plug?
White, Brown, Grey, Tan or Black?
What was your compression reading?

Did you check the reeds?

Compression is 170 psi.
Plug is brown, not quite tan.
V Force 3 reeds look like new.

Check your stator and flywheel for dirt or rust as the stator cover on those bikes were known to leak.
Do an OHMS test on the coil.
Do you have a bright Blue spark at the plug when kicking in over?

Stator and flywheel are clean.
Coil specs out good. Primary 0.8 ohms, Secondary 17K ohms.
Good spark.

Again, it runs very well once started, but will only start with throttle wide open after about 6 kicks. It acts as though it was flooded, but that is not the case.

I may be wrong, but those coil ohms readings look odd. The primary looks low and the secondary looks real high. If those numbers were reversed it would look more correct.
Are you sure the carb float needle is closing off and sealing correctly?
Are you sure the pilot jet is 100 clean and open on all holes?

Service manual states 0.4 -0.7 on the primary side and 13K - 20K in the secondary. The needle does seat completely. If I shut the bike down even for a minute, it needs full throttle to restart and there is not enough time for fuel to leak past the needle and seat to flood it. The pilot is clear.

I see what you have stated as the service manuals numbers, but I still sat that those numbers are incorrect. The primary side numbers as stated would allow the coil to break down very easy and the secondary numbers would wield almost no energy to the plug cap.
Have you tried taking the cap off, cutting the wire back 1/4" and then reinstalling the cap to see if the spark is stronger?

Those numbers are good, im assuming that secondary side ohm reading is with plug cap on? Need to find an old analog meter and check power to the primary side from the cdi. Should be 130 plus volts ac

Try turning your gas off as you shut the bike off next time too. Sounds like it's a leaky needle seat, does it sputter for a second after starting? Idle ok?
