GuyB, why no "poll" feature on Vital?

Edited Date/Time 8/19/2015 3:43pm
Are you concerned every poll thread will turn into a shit storm? They will for sure, but would it be too much to moderate?

It's an easy way to generate a mass amount of clicks to your site. Vital would become even more interesting than it is already...personally I think it's a great feature that can provide good feedback in certain situations.

That's the great thing about the poll feature as it eliminates some of the that. There are a lot of posters who won't chime in on a thread because they don't want to deal with the attacks from the vital regulars...with a poll you'll get more members contributing and the poll numbers speak for themselves. Better feedback from a broader member base.

Shit storm or not, every other thread turns into a shit storm so why not?

Just more proof that you need to incorporate this feature into the forum...we had to scroll down and search for it and you just got your 1st 5 votes....it's time to allow the members to create their own poll threads Smile

I'm all for having users suggest polls, and we pick from the best of them, rather than have a bunch of useless polls. Wink

They didn't go with vBulletin when starting the forum... It has the poll function & there would be 20 different polls at once...
Just look at the thread on the front page "How many think Dungey is the fastest rider ever...

most of the threads on here become useless after a few posts anyway....there are definitely some positives to the poll feature. How about a trial run to see if it works?

Is it an easy feature to incorporate into your site for a trial run?

it might get abused at first but it should mellow out after a couple weeks I imagine. It's great for getting feedback on products as you get votes from several hundred members, instead of some bashing that turns the thread into an argument (like almost every single thread on the site). We use it in photography forums and it works well.

Maybe a new section with nothing but user polls. Sorta like bike of the day but for the unintelligent.

I understand that choice. But what about the same poll tied to a 'sticky topic' on the main forum hub where we can discuss that poll ? (the one from vitalmx.com page)
We could also comment in there which the next poll could be and view the results in the topic.
This way users can only vote and see results and comment!
Just throwing some ideas out there Smile

*Given the situation that only mods can post those poll topics ofcourse!

That's a totally workable option. Smile

I have not been able to view the results from the poll. When I click the "View Results" button it just reverts to a "Back to Poll" button without displaying the results.
