Hi Guys,
When i was replacing the seal on my water pump I noticed that upon reassembly when tightening the bolt that holds the impeller the impeller itself would stop turning (Now i know this sounds obvious as if you tighten something then its not going to move) but i wanted to double check the procedure here..
Do i only tighten a few turns so the impeller spins freely (as i have noticed that even when doing this the impeller will catch the bolt and spin and tighten the bolt anyway, again causing the impeller to stop spinning) or is the bolt supposed to be tightened to torque?
Would this mean that the impeller is broken and needs replacing
Apologies for what I can see is a simple question but no harm in checking is there

Every bolt or nut on the engine should be torqued properly. It is very important.
When tightened down, the impellers do not always spin as free as you might think they should.
