This resembles a first turn when I look at the number of bikes close together but I don't remember Diamondback having lights(background). Also, a majority of the races went left off of the start. Are you sure this is Diamondback?? Maybe I just forgot about the lights.

Thanks for the great picture. It really brings back the excitement I used to feel watching my heroes hit the track.

Not sure if it was Diamondback. It was a Winter National in 78 or 79.

It could be Diamondback run backwards, start would be to the left.

Excellent pic!! Pretty sure I know the second just can't remember the name. He's wearing one of the Iron Jaws on his helmet. This looks like the jump/turn right before the large mountain jump towards the back of the track. The track actually looks pretty smooth for Diamondback. This looks like it was taken during practice.

Could be Kenny Keylon or Billy Long?

Nice picture of Diamondback MX track. You can see the famous sand waves. He`s not coming off a jump he`s just riding the huge whoops!

Great photo!! My dad just found an autographed picture and letter from Marty Smith(around '77) that he is going to give back to me. I'm excited. Probably frame it and put it in my garage with my other treasures from my early MX years.

Eric is a trim carpenter and a very good friend of mine. He is also my mechanic and goes to all the FL Vintage races with me.

Last year, I put Eric on a 1977 CR125 and entered him in the Evo1 A class. After not riding for about 15 years, he waxed everybody in that class and had a smile on his face for about a week!

That doesn't surprise me at all that Eric can still ride . I feel like I am faster than ever but I can only do one or two laps before my arms pump up!!

Yeah, that would be a little far to go. My parents just arrived from So. Fla. and I now have my autographed photos of Marty Smith(#9) and Rick Burgett. I can't wait to get them framed and put up in my garage.

I also just received about 8 photo albums of some awesome vintage Fla racing. Yarnell is in there, Bobbly Moore, Jamie Carrol, Joey Gratton and Freddie Van Wagner(anyone remember him?). Some cool photos of the pros from the National at St. Pete from 78 or 79.

If you could scan the Yarnell photos and send them I'd really dig it!

I don't have a scanner. I thought about trying to take some digital photos and transferring them to my computer but I don't know how well that might look.

Great to see all those old pics... I know my dad (Verlon Moore) worked his tail off building and making Hyatt Cycle Park one of the best tracks in Florida.. This is a picture that my mom took of me in 1977... This picture was taken on the SE coner of the track for those of you that remember Hyatt....

Cool photo Bob. Hey, you missed a great day of MX at Cathey's Creek last Sun, Bobby. The weather was perfect and both my boys had really good rides. My parents really wanted to see you while they were in N.C. I might even race too this coming weekend at Top Gun if you care to go. John

I raced a cool track at the AMA Winter National warmup series in 1978. I recall it was north of Lakeland. It was in a sand pit and had shear drop offs and multiple deep bermed corners. Massive Florida whoops where everywhere. Does anyone remember this track? Here are a few old photos from 78.

Heading to st. Pete (Sunshine MX) 12/14/2008. I will ride the 0-200 Evo class this time. Mark E. tell Eric Y to be on his A game if hes gonna beat this old man LOL. The plus 50 class is to hard to compete on my 1977 Honda 125. Still doing ok though. What a blast riding with the FLVMX group and seeing David Bailey at the last race.
Look forward to having a great time and another MX memory.

Should be no problem for you Kevin. Eric and I will be there, but he's taking the weekend off to just be my wrench. Sounds like a waltz in the park for you.

These pics are great stuff here guys. I'm trying to find anyone who knew or knew about a very good friend of mine who used to race MX in Florida. His name is Greg Crews and he raced out of St. Pete. I believe he raced for Barney's back in the late 70's/early 80's timeframe. He's no longer racing but still has it in his blood. Any info or pics would be great. Thanks
