Hey guys. I was lucky enough to be able to go to Maggiora for the GP last week. I took some photos and footage of the event that you might like to see.

Yamaha had this Dodge van out for their 60th anniversary celebrations.

Van Horebeek and Febvre had two holeshot devices, which I thought was cool.

A few of the teams had a truck and trailer set up, as opposed to an articulated lorry, which I hadn't seen before. My dad is big into this sort of stuff and was well impressed!

The HRC bikes were looking sexy as always.

Marco Maddi was riding in the EMX300 class. In true Italian style, half the awning was for the bikes, and they were selling their own brand of olive oil out of the other half.

This guy and his friend made an appearance in my video above.

The track was in a state early on in the day on Sunday, but it came round a bit towards the afternoon. This corner had a nasty rut with a vicious hook in it for the first MXGP race.

These guys were the life of the party in the camping area. That's some manner of straight 4 in a frame, with a huge cone on the exhaust. They were throwing beer in the cone which would light on fire and throw flames out. They were very... enthusiastic... They had this going until well in to the AM on Friday night.

I really enjoyed that video, awesome job putting it together! It's crazy how different the fans are over there, if you tried to pull any of that at a national you'd probably get tossed, I love it though!!! Those guys with the chain saws were awesome, and that fire shooter. . . what can I even say about that, way too much fun!Woohoo

Thanks for the comments guys. The chainsaws and bare engines were cool up until about 12 on Friday night. After that it was a bit exessive! It went on until half 4 on Saturday morning. There were kids cycling around the camping area with chainsaws on carriers on their bicycles, which meant that there was no quiet part. What made it worse was that they take off the stock exhausts so that it doesn't sound like a sweet little two stroke engine, it's a loud raspy annoying thing that won't rev properly! That's why we packed up on Saturday night and slept on the side of the road - we fancied a bit of sleep.

What a fantastic video! Good video quality, perfect music. Are you going to more GPs this year? I would love to see more of these videos.

I was at Matterly Basin, and I did up a video for that too, but I posted it in the Video Screening forum, where it didn't get much traffic. The Matterly video was my first ever video editing experience, and there isn't as much of the GP atmosphere in it as it was a day trip rather than a weekend away, but this is it if you want to watch it:

My dad lives about 30 minutes from Maggiora, which is why I went to that one, but I'm toying with the idea of going to Mantova now, because Maggiora was so good! And the weather in northern Italy would be a bit more predictable in August than June!

Thanks Crush!
