No one in the US, Europe, or Japan makes a carbon fiber seat base for a 2009-2012 CRF450/ 2010-2013 CRF250. They are only making them for the latest generation frame.

It costs $3000k to have a mold made for each model. This is why the companies have not invested in making one available for the older model. I hope to convince one of the companies to make one, Who here would be interested in purchasing one if it were available?

If we get enough people together so they know they will at least break even, I think we may have some luck.

thanks,
mike

Well that is a question before the fact. Let's assume they will be somewhere $199 to $299.

Please get him to chime in here.. we need the evidence that there is enough demand to convince them to make them

I love carbon fiber more than most people and spend big bucks on it. Are the stock bases that heavy or do they break, what is the point unless the stock ones are failing in large numbers. I would be hard pressed to buy it if you cant see it unless it fixes a bad design or failing part and I have never has a seat base fail in 40 years.

He is not on here. But he loves trick shit and has a 2011 crf 450. Now if they made one for a ne w yz450 I would be laying MY money down! Wink

Stock seats are plenty strong and are not failing.. the main objective is to save weight where you can really feel it. I spent many thousands on titanium bolts/ axles/ pivot/ pegs and carbon fiber on the lower half of the bike and felt little difference. The $1.5 k I spent on the CF fuel tank, lightweight seat, and titanium muffler made a huge difference in the feel.
