Man watching him at Plymouth in the 70s, that whole era. He was a legend even back then. Local and accessible. Just a regular Motohead. It's good to remember.

Saw Danny at a friends, nor-cal tuner Jan Houtermans memorial, a "proper" party in the parking lot !
L to R. Randy Pockrandt, Randy Losh, Don Sandretto, Kevin Henry, Marc "Rubberman" Gibson, Billy Daprato, Dave Longcor, Danny Turner.
In front is Danny "Magoo" Chandler. Was great to chat for a bit. Billy Daprato tuned for Danny for a lot of his carrier up to his Honda ride.
This was about 6-8 week before he passed.

Danny Chandler Invitational Race, not long after Danny was injured. Crazy turnout, two classes, everyone you saw on the track you'd seen in a magazine at some point in the 70's 80's. I remember seing Jim Holly grabing Rogers butt passing him off a ledge jump ! That was a day a lot of riders came out to support / say hey to Danny.

Suzuki support ride 1981, I think he podiumed at least one national that year.

I can remember riding my 1973 XR75 and pretending to be him. He was an amazing rider and a nice guy.

MotoMike-totally agree and that pic is awesome!

Just out of school, got my first job in SoCal and was lucky enuf to see Danny win the USGP at Carlsbad.
Always will remember that day....

Maico
Husky
Suzuki

And he made every one of them look awesome.
