Fork seal facing direction?

I have a set of race tech fork seals and I've had two different people tell me two different answers. Looking for some advice here. Which way does the seal face on the fork tube. Both sides look similar but one side has a spring:

Always put the spring side in. The non-spring side is flat and will allow the driver to work more evenly. If you put the spring side out, you have a good chance of breaking the spring or ruining the seal lip when using your driver.
