I picked up a frame off a guy who was a team/supported rider back in the day, He says it was a preproduction bike (1985 CR125R),
The frame number is KA3PF-3609, the frame number on my 85 CR125 is way longer & starts with JE01E which they are all supposed to, KA3 is the Honda code for CR125's from 81-85 so that bit seems right, the F is the 85 model code so that could fit I guess, There is some Japanese writing on the frame backbone that he says was there when he got the bike(can anyone translate?)
I have done a quick comparison with my frame & there is a difference in the frame headstock not having the support strapping for the backbone that the stocker has, Also there is a factory dent just above the left hand footrest on the stocker that is not on this frame, there maybe other small differences I have not noticed yet but It looks pretty much the same otherwise.
Can anyone shed any light?
I needed another frame anyway as mine has been damaged in an accident so if it's legit or not no matter but it would be good to know either way,Or is it just from a different market, all help appreciated
