Anyone own or tried both Troy Lee Air and SE3 helmets?

I have like 15 helmets......bell, shoei, arai, arioh, fox v4, and tld se3 (long story.....). I like the se3 bes because it doesn't come down so far on your neck. I have the air helmet and they fit about the same.

I also have a bunch of shoes and towels....

SE3 seems to fit just a touch more snug in the cheek pads for me. The padding feels a little thicker yet softer at the same time. Only worn TLD since the Ryno SE2 about 12 years ago now...WOW where have the years gone.

Towels, hand warmers and a flat screen TV? Seems like you are ready for action, I guess it's a good thing that we can't see what kind of DVD's you have.

i have a shoei VFX, fox V3, bell moto 8, Shark vermilion rep, fly f3 and a troy lee SE2... i love wearing the TLD lid..

wore arai most of my racing career and felt comfortable knowing it was a good helmet in a crash, have the same feeling for Bell and Shoei....but tld, fly etc don't know how they compare and would like to see some type of a crash comparison

I have an Air and love it, fits really well, feels light and has super good venting.

Not to mention the thing has the best paint job of any off the shelf helmet.

I don't know if its as good as my Arai but I def like it. The SE3 felt about the same when I tried them on, not sure how they perform though.

I've never liked the look of the Arai helmets, but will agree that they are one of the best helmets to protect your noggin.... If and ONLY if it "Fits" your head properly. I have a head that fits better in a SHOEI helmet, which I also believe is one of the safest helmets you can buy. I recently lost 70 lbs (265/195) and beleive it or not, my head changed shape and the Shoei helmets were sliding down and pushing my goggles down into my eyes. I switched to the Bell Moto9 carbon helmet and can't say enough about the fit. It FITS my head shape PERFECTLY !! As far as safety, Bell has always had a good name and I actually put it to the test last Sunday. I took a header and landed straight on hy head, followed by my KTM 500 dual sport. I broke a few vertebras in my back, broke some more ribs, broken Tibia, tore the ACL and MCL on my knee and got a torn muscle in my right knee. My helmet broke in 3 places and the inner liner has 4 large cracks in it. My head was fine, once the bells stopped ringing... Lol I did get a slight concussion, but it could've been way worse. I'll be buying Bell helmets from here on out.

The 6D helmet seems pretty safe and I'm glad they stirred up the shit, because every other helmet manufacture has improved their 30 year old design, since the 6D design was introduced. At least 5 other companies have came up with their own version of the impact absorption and I think that's a great idea.

My son was sponsored by AXO for many years, then switched to Shoei helmets and wore those for quite awhile. Got on a race team that started with One industries helmets, then went to the TLD helmets. I tried a helmet from each of those companies, during that time, but always went back to Shoei. Mainly because of the fit, but the safety was always in the back of my mind. My son quit racing, but still rides a little and he also wears a Bell Moto9. Never had any problems with concussions while wearing any helmet, but did get knocked out while wearing a Shoei. But that crash was one that I don't think ANY helmet would've kept that from happening. I think the Troy Lee helmets are built well and look really good too, but I'm just not convinced that they are as safe as the other 3 (Arai/ Bell/ Shoei) I'm not sold on the 6D either, although some swear by them. For me, the 6D pushed down on the top of my head and gave me an instant head ache. Everyone's head is a little different. I'd base the helmet you buy on "HOW IT FITS YOUR HEAD", more than how cool it looks. My 2 cents.... Carry on

I wear a Medium in both styles. They fit the same; but, I like the SE3 liner a bit more.

I have both the Air and SE3 and prefer the SE3 because the fit seems a bit more snug. They are both very comfortable and I run EKS goggles and they fit very well with the helmets.

I use an SE3 and love it. Fits perfect.
