The bike as a whole is coming together nicely, but that exhaust is a major eyesore.

Exaust is getting sent out. It's a special works pipe that was made for the team to adapt the 95 cylinder and the aluminum frame. I was just piecing it together to get an idea.

Figured as much, I can't wait till the final product. Those bikes were some of my favorite looking 125's.

Looking good man! What's special about the pipe fitment wise? I'm thinking about grabbing one for my year cylinder and just making it work with my frame. Idk if one that will fit my frame will be good with the cylinder in terms of power.

The pipe is made perfectly to fit. It's also made from thinner metal and lighter. I run the old style cylinders on my 02 with an 02 pipe it works with miner adjustments to the pipe.

I love builds like this when there's history involved. Seems like she's going to look really good when you are done!

How long did that team exist and what happened to them?`

Cool ass build. I'm almost done my 02 cr125 rebuild. Just have the forks left to rebuild and 4.6 springs and it's all done. It's not near as cool as yours. Id love to do the hpp cyl swap but I just can't justify it right now. It would still feel like a snail compared to my 450. Lol. Just a fun build

Well you always have the option being you have an 02. My rider is a 02 with HPP with a 134cc. It's for sure a different bike. Not a 450 by any means but a fast solid 125.

I raced cr125s all through my teens. Had a 98,01 and 03. Always got good starts and did well on the "underpowered" cr. I had no idea the 02-07 cr's were so popular to restore until I bought this 02 this fall. It's been 10 years since I rode a 125 and I was about 40lbs lighter..... Lol. I couldn't pass up on this 02 I picked up. 100% stock besides plastic. Had oem steel bars, original 695/k490 tires, original chain/sprokets and motor had never been apart. Even had the original paper thin Dunlop tubes in there...

Thanks, I have a set of the old school red and blue ones also. They are little too scratched up though.

Man this thing is coming out nice! I am actually just down the road in Kemah, and I am currently in the middle of building a retro themed 01 RM125. Hope it turns out half as sweet as this thing!

Just take your time with it. I've been working out his for about 6 months. The hardest part is getting the correct parts being it is a real race team bike. I have to find all the little parts that were missing. Your bike will turn out great I'm sure.

Yeah I am taking my time for sure. Do you have any local powdercoating recommendations? Josh at EBR recommended a guy that does is KTM frames, but I am open to new options. Still trying to find a good powder code that matches closely to the old blue suzuki frames. Wish I could find a deal on an A kit but may just end up getting some newer 450 forks and anodizing the uppers.

Long story short they got screwed by Shark Energy Drink and it financially ruined the team in 2002. I use to love going to Plano Honda as a kid those few years when they had their team. There was always cool stuff to see there.

Pro circuit hooked me up with some suspension decals and a triple clamp decals. Getting very close to being finished just missing tires, chain, sprockets, need to put the seat cover on and need to lace the turned down polished hubs with wheels. All big ticket items. Hopefully it will be done by April but that's about $500.00 in parts.
