I'm not a hundred percent sure, but shouldn't the hot start make a running bike idle high? Mine kills the bike instantly. I'm trying to truoble shoot, since my bike won't start when it's hot and I think that's the culprit since I took it off for a rebuild.

Why would you pull your hot start while your bike is running?

The hot start leans the fuel mixture by allowing air to enter the fuel stream. This is used when the engine died during the restart process. It is not meant to be used any other time.

check valve clearance, older hondas love eating up the valves. intake .006" +/- , exhaust .009"-.011", manuals call for .011" on exhaust side i have always run them at .009.

I checked the valves last night. One intake was at .004 and the other was .005. I've done the same with my exhaust both are at .009

Your intakes are too tight for sure and I also think that the manual spec on the exhaust is.011" and thus they are also too tight.
I know it does not sound like much, but being too tight by even .oo1" on the intakes will create a lot of trouble.

I re shimmed the intake and it started first kick cold. I will take her out on Saturday and see how it works when it hot. I think I am going to leave the exhaust where they are at. I've never had problems with them at .009. My manual does say .005 +- .001 so I always thought I was good.
