whoever wins this election is going to have a tough and difficult time restoring this country to it's former greatness.

considering that both candidates suck who do you think has the brains and guts to bring this country back to it what us America have been accustomed to?

Secretary of Defense - Chuck Hagel or Colin Powell (with the other being NSA Advisor)
Secretary of Treasury - Warren Buffet
Secretary of State - Bill Clinton
Secretary of Homeland Security - Dick Lugar
Fed Chairman - Ben Bernacke
Attorney General - Dick Durbin

That'd be a good start.

I like your idea here BobbyM. However, when you ask about "restoring this country to it's former greatness," what specifically do you mean? The problem I see is that we are so polarized at this point about what that means that half the country would just see that person as a political hack for the other side. I, for example, liked the "greatness" under Ronald Reagan but did not under Bill Clinton. Half the country feels the opposite. See my point?

If Obama wins, he's going to have to appoint at least one and preferrably two Republicans to his cabinet. I'm sure he'd like to have Dick Lugar and Chuck Hagel - and he's also mentioned Arnold Schwarzneggar (Energy or Interior?). He's going to have to build a working bipartisan group or we'll never get this mess cleaned up. Neither party can do it on their own.

Are you saying that Reagan and Hitler were very similar?

I'd love to here the comparisons. I hardly think that a conservative president is anything close to a mass murdering psychopathic war monger like Adolf. Have at it.

being in debt at the magnitude we are in equates to loserdom status imho, bombing soverign countries is another, relinguishing thde leadership of this country to religious wingnuts akin to the enemy aka middle east regimes doctrine is also way wrong.

i see your point and i agree . what america desperately needs is a third and fourth political party to bring new perspectives and allow americans to get over the us against them mentality . better yet would be a system of no political parties , just individuals with their own ideas and opinions , but that is not realistic for a long time , if ever . if you only have the current two party system , nothing will change , no matter who the leaders are .

So how might someone be able to answer your origional question without an understanding of what your definition of our former "greatness" is? You're saying what think the situation is and what you don't want it to be but that leave my origional problem with the question yet unresolved. Maybe you weren't really being serious when you ask the question?

What? I don't disagree with you about needing to return to geatness, I was just trying to get clarification about what you ment by it. I proposed a problem that I percieved would prevent people from agreeing on "greatness." If you didn't know what you meant by it and were just saying something without really thinking about it, no big deal. Nevermind.
