Well not THAT kind of happy ending!

Sold the 2014 KTM this morning. As some may know my ACL is still healing after the second replacement, and I'm buying a house.... So I did the grown up thing and parted ways with my baby. I was only without a bike for 2 hours though, because I scooped up a blown up 2002 CR125 for $700 bucks. It doubles as a winter project and a bike that will keep me from pushing my knee too far.

Anyone know what the hot setup is for an '02? I know about the '07 air box, and the VForce and shorty are a given.... But is there anything else? Or who is the best to send the motor too? I'm thinking about PC.... But Eleven10 did build that sweet bike Durham rode.

Any suggestions?

Throw away the stock cylinder. Put a HPP older style cylinder in it punched out to a 134cc along with an 38mm airstriker from JD. If your crank is bad Honda of troy have em brand new on eBay for $142.00. Only thing you need to change to make the old style cylinder work is the governer and powervalve linkage. Even with out making it a 134 the old cylinder is night and day.

Besides my 134cc engine built around an older six speed gearbox and hand picked parts from the best of CR125 engines' parts list, a 52 tooth rear sprocket made the biggest difference on my 2004. Oh, and run 100 octane or better fuel so you can get some consistency with jetting and also a little seizure insurance. These things go through rings and pistons, but you can ride on the same tires for months.

1995 was the best year of the HPP styles but 92-99 are all better than stock 02 cylinders. I have a few different ones. They all run good. Just besure you get the governer and the linkage. There are a few on ebay just search honda cr 125 cylinder used. I have had goof luck on there. There is a a sweet doeal on Pro Circuiut pipe and silencer right now for 156.00.

Great handling bike but slow, my nephew has one and its fun to ride but dont waste too much money trying to make it fast because at best when its all hopped up it will be almost as fast as a stock YZ125Sad

My first new bike was an '03 CR125, so I know what I'm getting into. Granted I was 14 at the time and probably 120lbs soaking wet...... so now at 25 and 175 lbs I'm sure I'll never be happy with the power..... But that's what I'm shooting for

A local guy has this for 50 bucks. He doesn't know the year, but it seems complete. I'm still a little unsure what you mean exactly by governor and linkage. This have said parts?

I liked the 03 but the motor was a little slowTongue , shoot me an email mxking809. I thought that someday I would use the kyb set for a restore if I ever got another 03, but May part with it.

It doesn't matter on the year. If the playing is good that is a steel. The governer is inside inner clutch case and the linkage goes from the clutch cast to the cylinder.

It comes with the HPP cover, but not the other side. So basically I need the mechanisms to connect the jug to the bottom end on either side. Thanks guys!
