Over the last several years I have used Barr’s Competition for my sons 65’s and 85’s and they have been great.
I did have a Varner RM 125 and PC RM 125. The Varner motor had a really strong mid-range but went flat on top and the PC was a little better than stock. Neither ran like the Barr’s 125.
I have heard great things about Tom Morgan Racing and Tomac’s old mechanic Gregg Lynk.
I have always been told the intake needs to be rough to help mix the fuel coming into the cylinder. I also see where tuners sharpen the bridges and their seems to be controversy over that as well.
Polishing the intake is not good for consistent air/fuel mixture, but not as bad for power as it is made out to be. As a matter of fact I learned from Cosworth F1 engine designer that when designing an engine from the ground up, he doesn't care how you texture the intake tract. He said as long as you get the volume and cross sections correct, the hp numbers will fall into place. I don't polish...
You could tell where Barr's had changed the port heights and polished the exhaust but the intakes looked stock. No porting marks or knifing and the bike ran great!

Transfer ports are very empirical, so you have to find someone who has a lot experience with your specific motor. Trial and error is the rule on transfers once you have the overall exhaust porting and expansion chamber roughly set. Sometimes you end up improving a motor by making transfer ports SMALLER, or changing angles without really changing transfer timing or size. Sometimes you can make improvements with timing, but that is a lot of work, and often involves ADDING material is some sports...taking it away in others. With regards to transfer timing, blowdown is the key parameter... the degrees of motor rotation from when the exhaust port opens, til the transfers are exposed. This is a key parameter in conjunction with expansion chamber dynamics.
Bridges need a rounded face to create a boundary layer for the a/f mix to flow around, sharp points splitting the flow creates turbulence around the bridge. A perfect example is an airplane wing. The sharp edge points rearward and the front is rounded to create a tear drop shape. If it was the other way the turbulence would break the wing apart.
