This bike is new to me and i'm not sure if the throttle is supposed to be like this....
If I grab the cable anywhere before it enters the housing on the bar and pull it, i can open the throttle just as it would if i twisted the grip!!??
I had it apart and everything seems fine. My old yamaha didn't do this. I read about the recall but its seems to just be for 2013.
The only thing i can see preventing this is to have the plastic sheathing somewhat anchored where it enters the wheel housing. There is a rubber boot surrounding the cable and where it enters the throttle housing - when i pull the cable, it just slides out of the boot with no resistance. Do i just need a new boot that fits tighter?
Is there a better alternative setup?
This seems like a stuck throttle waiting to happen.

Most two stroke throttle cables are like that, had a 06 yz250 that revved up pulling on the cable. I had the ktm oem Domino/cable throttle stick multiple occasions. (2 hours old!) When it made me crash, i benched it and purchased a oem yz 250 complete throttle assembly and cable. Fits like it should in front of the bars and down the left side of the frame, between the headstays and into the carb, no more sticky throttle. Works like a charm, plus you can get alumium throttle tubes aftermarket, and if you happen to break a throttle tube, yz tubes are a bit more common than ktm tubes at track side retailers.

Older KTM throttle cables were not "connected" where it enters the carb cap. The fix is to safety wire it so it can't pull out or purchase a Motion Pro cable, also heard the CR250 throttle cables would swap out. Search KTM stuck throttle and you will get a lot of info to make you want to take care of this before riding it again...

Get the Motion Pro T3 +4 throttle cable. It screws into the top of the carb and the +4 is 4 inches longer and allows you to route the cable in front of the triple clamps and in my opinion is more out of harms way.

Is the T3 cable crimped into the upper adjuster?
