I am a video producer doing education on the Affordable Care Act aka "Obamacare."
I understand Obama not the most popular person. But fact remains the ACA now forbids insurance companies from denying people with pre-existing conditions. BMX riders certainly fall into category of people who have been unjustly denied in the past. Not looking to get into a debate with anyone here. Really seeking a BMX rider who ignored all the rhetoric, realized he needed health insurance and signed up.
In terms of the mandate, will say this: In our great country, they treat everyone at the ER. So if you don't have health insurance, when you get hurt (BMX or otherwise) you are "freeloading" off of everyone else. Unless you want to sign a paper that says "don't treat me" please don't complain. The ultra conservative Heritage Foundation realized this 20 years ago. So did Mitt Romney which is why his plan in Mass. had the mandate.
So please, let's try and move forward and work to improve the ACA where it can be. So if you are a BMX who signed up, would like to hear your story. Thank you.

Kinda creepy...
Those of us that had health insurance to begin with are the ones who go screwed, not some dipshit low budget BmX video quack.
In response to Misledder, the fact is the vast majority of people with medical debt do not pay their bills. What happens is uninsured can't go to the doctor and then show up after accident/heart attack whatever. Millions of people go bankrupt due to medical debt. Now everyone on here can yell at me all they want, call me names, whatever. But fact remains everyone needs health insurance. Would bet that even without "Obamacare" their are many, many riders who have been rejected by health insurance companies. So while it may give the haters satisfaction to respond to this with vitriol, facts are stubborn things. And the fact is the ACA is helping millions of people.http://www.nytimes.com/2014/06/27/opinion/paul-krugman-so-much-for-obam…
This is a complex issue that can not be boiled down to "I hate Obama." It's not about him, he will be gone in two years. All I am saying is think a little bit before being so reflexive. Are there things in the ACA that can/should be reformed? Absolutely. But I can tell you from having met people who have kids with cancer who could not get health insurance before, the law is helping millions of people. Many of the people who complained about losing their policies do not even realize those policies were "junk" and with an accident would have done squat.
Yay
it's a big and total CLUSTER FU**! Everybody hears about the "low end" policy holders that got discontinued. But what about the "high end" policy holders that got canceled? Have you ever thought that it's not "people don't like Obamacare because they don't like Obama" but that "they don't like Obama because they don't like Obamacare?" Most likely you are very young (still in your twenties) and easily influenced.
