I didn't read it like that. "All the real fans that can lose as well as win, unlucky, your team did great IMO." I think he's pretty happy with a 4th, probably hoped for that 3rd but got screwed. Most countries are losers today since only one can win.

I'm European, but I don't celebrate when another country from Europe wins. But I am glad for them. For the job they have done.

So many guys on this forum are very arrogant and condescending about Europe and MXGPs status it almost makes it impossible to be happy when team USA don't succeed. I'm trying my best not to be one of them, but it's pretty darn hard not wanting to tell some people to shut it. I want to see good racing. I'm a fan of Sweden but there's no secret they haven't had a shot at top spot for a while.

Exactly right but you are reading it in a neutral position, thanks for the common sense Olson.

The people hammering the post read it in a totally defensive position, point proven really.

Thats the US attitude about it, they act like marines on a mission. They aproach the race and the fans very differently than in a SX or a national. Rest of the world fans just respond accordingly.

People are happy to see the USA loose because of all it's flag waving 'merica dipshit fans.

They have nothing against the riders, or the USA, but it is fantastic to see all the patriots have a meltdown.

I think the US riders are great and under the circumstances did great (Martin being hurt), to the douchebags throwing them under the bus i'm sure the GP SERIES and fans would be happy to have them, AND support them.

and im still waiting for anybody/jeffro to show me where I said I was happy the USA lost ! or slagged the team off etc.

Just to comment on the Sandy tracks , Kegums is not that sandy normally it has gotten a lot sandier and deeper due to rain in the weeks before the race,

don't get me wrong it is a sandy track but with a very hard surface underneath the top layer is sandy

and as for who wins or loses i don't fucking give a sh*t who won, imo they r all winners every man/country raced their heart out just to show us how great this sport really is.

the only thing that is left over from winning r bragging rights for the next 12 months for France they can say they where the best team with all scores combined on a one off race in 2014. Does this mean Paulin, Ferrandis or Frossard is better than any other rider that lined up NO maybe better than a few of them on an consistent base but there r probably 10 riders in the very same class of each of them that could beat them on any given day just not that day.

and that race is a lottery everything must click and be perfect france made no mistakes where Belgium, USA , GBR and others made mistakes and made things hard on themselves to be crowned champion.

So please stop all this bullshit over AMA VS GP every single one of them r badass.

PS i watch every AMA MX and SX race and watch every GP race do i think that GP's r better than AMA? NO. Do i think AMA is better than GP? NO

Roger D. seems to think so.

"It’s hard to come here on tracks where the Europeans ride GPs every year. They know how the tracks evolve. They’re used to the weather, they’re used to a lot of things. It not easy to come here. And basically there’s a target on our bike also. The goal for every European country is to beat America. They will be willing to help each other to beat us."

http://racerxonline.com/2014/09/29/open-mic-team-usa
I have trouble with this statement "Willing to help each other out" Could you imagine team Belgium helping France win to stop the US winning for example??

They were gutted, Strijbos was so pissed,he had a great win then fell in the last Moto andVan Horbeek bent his gear lever and had trouble shifting, did they the USA on their minds??

No,everyone wants to win or even podium SO bad, fuck other countries, EVERY place is a point in a Moto

I'm sure the GP riders aren't too happy when they hear about being inferior etc but that statement is clutching at straws

Actually quite a few US MX fans deserve to be getting some flack from "the world" because of their cocky/sophomoric "weez the bestest evah and no one can beat us [unless we have a bad day or some other lame excuse]" attitude.

We have a big country here and a lot of small minds.

Hi everybody, I just joined the forum right now for my very first time.. nice to read you all...

I'm Italian.

Actually in local forums we're reading almost the same titles....

Usa Vs ROW ? You vs Us ?

I'dont really know, but

- don't forget "You" are in the end a group of 51 Nations under the same name and flag (that's the way Europeans look at USA) . Not only one single nation like "France" or "Belgium".
- You can choose the best rider for represent your country across a HUGE number of riders. So It's easy for you find always the strongest three to put in the track. If they are injuried, you've a lot of substitutes.
- You have the best championships, National or Supercross. The best Tracks ever seen, The best media coverage, the best press attention. We maybe grudge you a little bit.
- Your story in MX is very clear... but now it seems the trend is changed. And it's not surely for sandy tracks...
- You cannot really affirm Kegum is a sandy track... Lommel Ok, but not Kegums... please.
And Teutschental 2013 ? it was hardpack...
- Our feeling is like you consider us a lower series

Races are races. Wherever they are.

The level of MXGP rider in last year has grown up.. It's a fact. And the european are happy for this.

And more, some remarkable attitudes of American riders on the podium last year (what a dark faces !! left the podium during final celebrations..) are still written in our memories.. not really fair...
Sometimes times it seems Americans care only about the victory (ok in sports it's supposed to be the target to be achieved) but there is also the respect for other contenders.

Maybe someone is even more happy if you're defeated.

Personally I love to see good races.. Tomac re-cut has been really exciting !!
20 top USAs vs 20 top EUs ? I totally agree..

Unfortunately, in Europe, we have Luongo. But that's another story.

bye

Tell me where I boasted that you lost......

The nature of the post is simple, those that can handle not being top step of the podium, congrats the USA did well, those that can't (and there are a lot of them) then you've got a year of butthurt and I know you love using that picture which is exactly why I used it - seeing as those particular individuals are always keen to draw other nations towards being of a lesser quality then simply enjoy the next year.

And yes you did beat GB..........by a tiebreaker so think yourselves lucky - I am not here moaning that GB deserved more, need tracks more suited to us, need better starts, cant cope with a weekend of racing on an unfamiliar track bla bla bla.

Get over yourselves, it's racing, 3 years tracks are sand pits?? really?? - Lommel is sand, Germany was as far from sand as my building, Latvia yes it was sand but surely your team can cope with it being the best in the world - it wasn't that deep was it? Maybe you guys need a bigger box of tissues or something, I don't know, just stop being baby's because you say the tracks don't suit you. FFS it's a world MX race - it happens across the world. tracks are most likely not going to be what "YOU" deem as perfect for your team to win time after time because after all is said and done that's what its all about after all isn't it?

For the record - the majority of you lot general make it USA vs the world, as proven page after page.

Jamie, I usually like your content on Vital. But between the butthurt thread and your clear casts to get Jeffo to lose his lid here, do you think you are adding value to Vital? Does it change anything? Do you feel better?

You are out of character here.

You want it like the Ryder Cup format? How's that working out for you lately?

I'd say you'd lose your current advantage switching to 20 Americans vs 20 Europeans (although I agree that would be much fairer). At the moment you have about 5 times the population of the next largest country. You are better leaving it as it is and putting on your big boy pants when you get beat. If you even up the number of potential entrants from the competition then things will only get worse for you as your 11th to 20th placed riders would be weak compared to Europe as a whole. Sorry.

no I don't jeepnmike but I am allowed to defend myself when called out as boasting etc which I certainly have not, the post being referred to was taken well out of context and it only needed to be read to get that much from it, yes i've answered more than one post in the above but it needed saying, it's not all aimed at jeffro, its sweeping.

there's no attempt to get jeffro to bite, its about as aggressive as his initial post at myself and in all honesty the 1st time I have actually exchanged words with him in this manner.

ref: the butthurt post - that's aimed at a particular bunch and they got it loud and clear I am sure, there is a sentence in it that disregards the more "normal" fan. I know it was immature but it had to go out as a response to earlier slants at me, enough said.

US fans are pissing me off, and I am one.

What a bunch of whiners, seriously. Go around FOR YEARS bragging their asses off about USA USA USA...

...as soon as we lose, in about as fair and square circumstance as you could imagine, the whining and excuses began.

OF COURSE the Euro fans are going to rub this one in- look at the crap they have put up with from arrogant US fans.
US fans should congratulate the French and move on.

I agree with most of this , except the 20 AMA vs 20 GP rider comp instead of MXON. Like I already posted in the RV tread , if RV is racing GP's he would race for the GP-team and KR for the AMA team. That has just no point whatsoever!!
I've heard Joel Smets and Jef Emig intervieuws in wich they state that they consider their MXON history as the greatest moments in their career RACING FOR THEIR COUNTRY. Wearing the national colors/flag and representing their country/population. I'm proud to be Belgian and Belgium is a member of the European Union. That doesn't mean I'll be waving the European flag.
Europe = union of countries that excist of several states/provences
United States of America = country that excists of several states

Let the Mxon be what it is , it's a fantastic emotional rollercoaster with a huge crowd and atmosphere regardless the winner Wink

@ Jamie and the rest of you guys....I apologize for dragging you into this thread. I mis-interpeted Jamie's thread and was thinking you were taking a stab at the American team. I honestly didn't start this thread as a AMA vs GP type thread...........but more along the lines of not fully understanding why every country on earth likes to see the Americans lose......and why any country that beats us is cheered for.....no matter where you are from.

I appreciate the good replies and the thoughts you guys put into them. I also appreciate spelling it all out in La mans terms.

@ Kong .....I appreciate your UN-biased approach and coverage of the MXoN's race. I wasn't bringing your name into it because of this ONE race.....it was all about what you've said on here over the past few years. Everyone on this site knows you can't stand American's all that well , but love the sport. That's cool , so keep doing your thing. I also apologize for lumping you in with Geoff.....as that guy is on a whole other level than anyone else that's ever graced this board....and you didn't deserve to be thrown into that group.

There are shit heads on both sides of this planet. So when the banter gets thick here between the two , it's hard to stay out of the middle of it. Everyone on this board knows I follow the GP scene as well , and you would be hard pressed to find any bad remarks from me , thrown towards any of the GP riders , or former GP riders which contend the AMA series. I cheer for a lot of guys on both sides of the pond.......but when I think someone is taking a jab at our American riders......I tend to want to speak up.

Didn't mean to cause a war here. So I apologize to anyone that thinks that's what I was doing.

Peace out bro Smile

And I don't want (or enjoy) the USA to lose, much like most fans we know your series and racers (along with everybody else's) are very good for the sport, that's not where the arguments and emotions come from.

I'd rather England / GB win over anybody and that's my only real preference and you are no different, I think we can and should still respect each other though.

Roll on SX

you did well- just managed to scrape a podium this year- simpsons chain breaking in the final moto gave you JUST enough points to beat team GB for the final podium position overall

Well done though- no need to be butthurt, france were the better team and fully deserved the win this year. No need for the excuses
I didn't make any excuses here, can you point them out to me. As far as Simpsons chain breaking big deal Martins crash on Saturday had a pretty big effect don't ya think. Maybe if your guys had more podium potential other than who Wilson is your best rider and he don't even race GP's and hasn't podiumed in a AMA MX race for years. At least we put two different guys on the box. As far as France they are a MX nation. Belgium and France are always a threat. FYI- Tommy did ride well though, maybe if he would have showed that kind of potential in America where he wanted to race and stay he would have been able to last longer than two years in the AMA with 0 moto wins.

the funny thing is the racers have all said they got beat, they'll go try again next year. that's a great attitude to have after 3 years of defeat.

it's the dorky fans that can't admit defeat, which is hilarious as they have nothing to do with the racing besides thumping their chests all year.

20 AMA vs 20 GP rider comp NOT instead of MXON but IN ADDITION to standard championships.
Several races, let's say 3 or 5 just to test different tracks and conditions....

The problem will be the scheduling.
