If we are talking only SX then Jeremy is the man. But I personally look at both SX & MX when judging who's the GOAT, and that title rightfully goes to Ricky.

RC had a 31 year old MC to dethrone, then DV, Reed and Bubba, an old LaRocco for a season or two. Lusk, Ramsey, Fonseca, Wey, Hamblin, Tortelli, Huffman, Byrne, Lewis, Ferry... I think RC had a higher peak competition level because obviously Reed and Bubba were on his level but after that there were a lot of races where they were the only ones on the podium, and that was after two seasons of RC being way ahead, 01/02 were pretty bad...

Doesnt matter who basically dethroned Ricky. Im just saying McGrath couldnt hold a candle to RC or JS or RV for that matter in their primes in supercross.

Different eras, tracks and bikes. Sorry but RC wasn't near as talented at sx compared to mc. MC's first two seasons were spent kicking ass, RC' were spent picking himself up off the ground.

I guess being nicknamed "The King of Supercross" wasnt good enough Tongue Theres more to racing that supercross, and there is more to racing than motocross/outdoors, MC has 72 SX main wins, while RC has 48. To me since RC has more moto/main wins (outdoors and sx combined) than MC, he is better, plain and simple. Cole Seely didnt get awarded first a few mains in the 2014 season because he led the whole race and got passed last lap, did he? No. RC has more over all wins in the sport than MC, making him the Greatest Of All Time.

I'll also throw out there that the tracks were gnarlier in 1995-2000 than they were in 2001-5 and then again from like 06/07 to now.

Late 90s shit got crazzy with whoops and rhythm sections... In 01 I remember thinking a few times the tracks looked faster and more open.... Still some hectic stuff here and there but they lost berms mid way through 04 or 05... and then when 4 strokes really came in in 06/07 they just went to the flowy open jump jump turn jump jump turn tracks we see now. And pusshole whoops. The last massive whoops were 06 A1. Since then they've not been anywhere near as bad.

Each era had its own G.O.A.T. and King of Supercross. Ricky Johnson vs McGrath. Hannah vs RC. The outdoor G.O.A.T.'s of years past rode 125/250/500 machines and longer motos. When RV makes the trip oversees and if he dominates the European Championship series he can also claim the Greatest of All Time too. The only thing he will not be able to claim is that he beat RC on race day.
