Heat then cold ,15 minutes each, helps pump blood in then out.
I use a heat pad and a bag of frozen veggies, corn is my choice.
Do the hot cold cycle several times in a row, more you do it the faster it heals.
When it gets nitted together good get a small pulley from a hardware store and some rope.
Hang pulley from the ceiling and use the rope to lift your injured arm with the good one.
This takes the stress of mussels trying to lift the injured arm but keeps the range of motion or lets you regain the range.
It feels so good to pull it up and stretch out the mussels and tendons after being in the harness.
Second was 2 months to the day, went over the bars on a CR, as I rolled I saw the bike cartwheeling after me so I rolled sideways then snap, I knew as soon as I did it. Grabbed my kidney belt, made a sling and went home.
Since then had a 2 bike accident on my road bike 3 yrs ago, wrote off my R6 and mates FZ6 (not my fault) and ended up with broken scafoid, elbow, ribs and torn acl. Now I can't fully straighten my arm.

yes two CB's were in that count one took 4 weeks ( raced 28 days later) second was a bit worse, telephone pole jumped in front of my awesome power-slid in a brand new LTD.
Had surgery to pull it out of my neck and adjust it with titanium and screws....8 weeks but I was 23 then. the younger and fitter
( is that a word?) you are the faster the healing.
Owe to be young again...shit I would probably die thinking I was indestructible...I'm good
Wow those are some nasty looking breaks.
Here's my upgrade the next time I break my c-bone heading into the off season:
Right on.
This past friday (3 weeks after the break) I was coaching my daughters on pushing their rev limiters a little harder and had to jump on their RM65 and RM85 to demonstrate what I was talking about. It was nice to be on a bike again, but I am going to leave my CR parked for a couple more weeks.
Still badly bruised on my delt and bicep and the shoulder joint still hurts. I made an appointment with my family doc to start looking for soft tissue / rotator cuff damage but there is a 3 weeks to see him :^( . I'll be riding again by then!
I did mine two weeks ago friday on my mtb
Had done it on the same shoulder almost a year to the day the year before and it was just starting to feel 100% again..
Already have most of my mobility back but no strength..
I really want to get the surgery done on my grade 3 because while my ROM is great, I can't stand the strength loss. I am still on the young side and my bump looks deformed as hell. The worst part about AC separations is most doctors act like its not a big deal and that you'll be good minus one or two specific exercises.
Never get this stupid injury folks..
I didnt get xrayed or anything but I had a doctor who was a buddy look at it...he said 2nd degree seperation but I wouldnt have expected to get my mobility back this fast..
it was super painful for about 5days..now it only hurts if I move my arm in one specific direction..but yea a pushup or pull up is out of the question..last time it took me 4 or 5 weeks to be back on the bike but it wasnt ever the same
My doctor friend said the surgery is purely cosmetic..its only to get rid of the lump
I dont really understand Ive had countless huge hits to the shoulder over the years and never had a problem...now that im a little older (31) the last two big crashes have separated it
I ride bikes with a guy who is a personal trainer for a big name racer who had a similar injury..going to hire him to give me a good PT routine..I think that was part of the problem last time..if I had gotten it stronger it might not have happened a second time

And yeah I've read studies that show either with the surgical route or the non-surigcal, its lost strength forever.
It bewilders me as well. I felt like the crash it self wasn't even that hard. Seems like it has to do with the angle of impact. It only takes 12-15 lbs of force to snap a collarbone, so I can't imagine it takes much for the separation to happen at the right point of impact.
Think from now on I'll ride with football shoulder pads ...
It will feel like the cuff is messed up,that is why I rigged a pulley up to pull my bad arm up with the good. I moved it thru the entire range to keep it from scaring down.
Used the ole pulley many a time.
