Dude, that's nasty. Probably the last thing I would buy on Craigslist is a mattress.

Hell, even one of the discount mattress places was in the news recently for selling mattresses with bed bugs pre loaded. Craigslist.......yikes.

These places with a 30 day free trial? Where do those mattresses end up after being leaked on and sweated on for a month?

Thanks for all the input guys. I ended up with a Stearns and Foster pillow top. We laid on several beds Saturday morning and went with that one. Ended up spending $1,300 and slept on it the last two nights and man it's a great difference.
Find out what Zion has. The center on his should be like new. Maybe he'll swap.

Finding myself in the same boat now. I'm a side sleeper and lately have been having hip/neck/back pain. With all 3 coming on at once, I'm assuming it's the mattress. Tonight I tested a few out at Sears since they're having a 60% off sale, and found a BeautyRest that felt AMAZING. It was around $2,500 after the 60% off. Looking around online though, it seems this company Saatva that I've never heard of has crazy awesome reviews. It's about half the price of the BeautyRest at $1299 + $99 delivery. The only thing is, you can only buy through their site, which means you can't try it out first. Anyone have one? I'm interested in their Plush Soft mattress.

Buying a mattress is sorta like buying a used car. I went to three shops and each of them the sales rep was chasing me out the door asking what they could do to get me to buy from them. . . I got the last shop to drop the sales tax and get me out the door $100 cheaper than the price they had listed.

Laying on a new bed for a few minutes isn't' a good indicator of how you'll sleep on it. I thought we would really like a softer mattress but we went softer than I would have wanted to. My wife loves it but I think I'd like something just a little bit more firm. I think my next mattress will be something like the sleep number so I can set it to however I want.

I bought a sleep number last year to help with my back. I had back fusion and just needed to reset my mattress. You need a mattress with lower back support. This tends to mean that you need a firmer mattress that can support you. Women like softer mattress because of their hips. The sleep number lets the wife set her setting and I can set mine. Been pretty happy with bed so far.

We did put on a memory foam top we bought at Costco. This adds a bit of plushness without sacrificing the firm back support I need.
