St. Louis SX hotels

What are some decent hotels around the Edward Jones Dome? We have tickets to the 2015 SX and are looking at different hotels. Last year we went to Indy SX and stayed at a laquinta inn downtown, when we arrived (about 1 am Friday night) the hotel was loud and impossible to sleep. We then went to the St Louis SX a few weeks later but didn't get a hotel because I figured it would be about the same as Indy was.

Do most hotels turn into big parties, or did we just pick a bad one?

For 2015 we are planning to buy a hotel room for Friday and Saturday night in St Louis. Are there any decent hotels within walking distance to the Dome that has a casino attached? I would like to get a hotel nearby so we can drink and just walk back to our hotel. Would we be better off to get a hotel a little ways out of town?

We stayed at the Ramada behind the stadium. The lobby and bar was a big ass party but we didn't have any trouble with noise by our room. Make sure you eat at snarfs sandwich shop. We went to pie pizzeria after the races it was good stuff. Tons of bars within walking distance

You're on it super early! Tripadvisor is your friend. I've also fund out that hotwire.com is a really good thing, especially in the states.

Last year I waited too long to get a hotel, and it seemed 90% of the hotels around were either sold out or wanted outrageous rates for the weekend. That's why we stayed at a cheap hotel about a mile away, and I paid the price for it. We didn't even stay in our room Saturday night, we just drove straight home.

Bingo. Lumiere is right across the street from the Dome, and is also a hotel and casino. We usually park in their parking lot and walk across the street.

I've stayed at the Drury Inn directly across the street from EJD twice and while the lobby area is usually crowded with folks waiting for pizza delivered after the race, we never had a problem with loud neighbors in the hotel. It's also just across the street from the casino entrance that goes underground and has a moving walkway to the casino. One year we stayed at a different Drury Inn that is about a 5 - 10 minute walk from EJD (it's closer to the baseball park) but still pretty close. I would recommend staying close to the stadium because traffic out of that place is nuts and cars are just stuck going nowhere after the race.

Okay, I don't know your budget and how you usually do this stuff. I fly a lot of stand by and can never book a hotel in advance because of it. Have never had any problems getting a hotel due to high season or special events. I can tell you though that you can get a room Fri through Sun at either Sofitel, Intercontinental, LeMeridien or Luxury Collection for under $300.

That's mainly why I would like to find a hotel within walking distance. We got lucky and left a few minutes before the end of the 450 mains at both indy and st Louis and didn't have much traffic to deal with. But it would be much better to just be able to stay near the dome and relax and not have to rush out.

I just checked with the Drury inn right across from the dome, and they are already sold out for that Friday and Saturday night.

Is that $300 a night or all together? $300 a night is a little above my budget, but ~$150 a night would be fine. Plus if I book this early it gives be a good amount of time to save up for the hotel, If I can find one that you can reserve a room at and not pay until the day you get there.

I am on the Lumiere hotel website and they wont let me check the rates past December of 2014. But it looks like a Really nice hotel.

That's total, tax included. Do think you have to pay now, not sure. I always pay when I book so I can get the cost out of the way. I've used it a lot all over the world and have never been let down.

I think I will pick the Embassy suites. Its $350 after tax for both nights, and right next to the dome. According to hotels.com its normally $349 a night, but through them its $149 a night for a king room

Walking distance is the Embassy suites. 200 yards max. I stay here every year, already have reservations and if you do not have some, CALL NOW!!!!!

Lumiere is about 1/4 mile at the most, probably closer than that but they are pricey. I got a suite at the embassy for half the price of a regular room at lumiere

Nope, never have. Been to cities during larger events though and never had any problems. That was not my point. Tried to help as good as possible anyway.

When I lived in Kansas 10-15 years ago, we always stayed at the Embassy Suites. Walking distance to the stadium and some of the racers stayed there as well. We had a pretty cool time one year at the Planet Hollywood. Got seated right next to team Yamaha with Dowd and Henry and all of their mechanics. Henry had won that night and the mechanics were doing shots of Jaegar and were pretty chatty. Lots of fun.

To avoid the traffic jam (and horn wars) after the stl sx I park about 4 blocks away... Zero traffic jam that way.... If u park close, count on being stuck in traffic for at least an hr afterwards (or even stuck in a parking garage for at least that long)..

Was not trying to be a smart-ass if that's how I came off. St Louis just has the Arena (concerts and hockey), Baseball stadium and the Dome within a couple blocks of each other. Add in all the tourist for the Gateway Arch across the street and the only casinos in the area a couple blocks away, it is a very busy area.

It is well known that if you are gonna do something in STL that plan a long time in advance. Most people will call the hotels the day the SX dates are announced.

Sometimes the metrolink works good also. If you park at the Casino Queen which is on the Illinois side and ride it over you will have problem. When the race is over, if you go to the station that is west of the Dome instead of AT the dome there is usually a shorter line and you can get on and then when it stops at the Dome, you are already seated while all the others fight to get on. you ride it across the river back into Illinois and then you will have zero traffic to deal with

We always stay at the st louis grand renaissance hotel. walking distance (couple blocks) from the dome.
